No, I have both and the fuzz circuits sound pretty different, but I've heard people get some sick tones with the big muff and a power wash boost

It definitely wasn't setup perfectly out of the box, but my Jackson was way worse, in terms of feel, it's not that bad, it's not perfect, but I've picked up basses in music stores that were harder to play than this one

The contour button helps make distorted notes punch harder (for me) that being said, this is an older video and I'm still trying to find the best dial position to emulate Cliff

His mids came from tube screamer and bass (and wah when soloing) but sure as hell did not have too much mids on the amp(not a honky sound by any means)

Ibanez HD1500 rack mount...honestly you could do it with something way simpler haha

@@KeeperOfCliffsTone yes true but I'm not sure which songs or live songs he used the Ibanez HD1500 pitch shift on. I think he used it as a modulating pitch shift to bend his notes trails and detune pitch shift his note trails?

@@waynegram8907 he used it as an octave up during 84/5 blended with his regular lead tone...and in 86 near his tragic demise he used it an octave lower during anesthesia(if you listen carefully to his last show solo you can hear an octaver)

@@KeeperOfCliffsTone was the Washburn delay a pedal or rack mount? That is rare to use a Washburn delay unit

@@honkyman2869 it's pretty good for the price, I would definitely recommend changing the pickups though, gave it a whole new personality

Actually quite the opposite, the body is much heavier than the neck.

I actually heard, that the single coil pickup started fritzing out after ride the lightning, and that's actually why he stopped using the ric.

​@@captainnuggie1831 before kill em all...never recorded any album with that pickup ;) swapped out before he even installed the other two(mudbucker and jazz)...that strat pickup was under the bridge while he still had original rick pickups in the bass

@@captainnuggie1831 rick did start to have technical problems sometime later in 1984 as well(after which he got alembic spoiler which in turn was stolen and then aria endorsment came into play during 1985) but was later repaired and was used for "the thing that should not be" during 1986 in D standard tuning(whilst other songs were in E standard)...however strat pickup was taken out before kill em all album because of interference problems...and the mudbucker and seymour duncan were installed(mudbucker giving fatter neck pickup sound compared to pretty shallow rick neck pickup and the seymour duncan gave jazz like bite to the sound necessary for cliff lead style and punch to the rhythm tone to balance out mudbuckers fatness...but was also humbucking unlike regular jazz single coil, so the bass was no longer noisy compared to the stock rick and strat pickup)

Yes, they are both on all the time. Also scooping mids also helps the notes punch harder, even though Cliff's tone was mid heavy

@@captainnuggie1831 thing is im using a p bass which aint really a punchy bass...so with my ts9b when playing fast rumbling rhythm parts it can get a bit muffled...i was hoping cs3 could give me more note definition clarity and punch in that regard...fingers crossed i make something outta that

Probably the Morley Fuzz-Wah, it is probably the main component when it comes to getting a sound close to Cliff's. The other stuff is important too, though.

@zapatodeazucar3542 the Morley is a pretty noisy pedal. That's where figuring out the sweet spot for the noise gate comes in

Ok, let me calculate this for you Rickenbacker = $800 after mods Compressor = $120 Noise gate = $25 Power Fuzz Wah = $160 Tube screamer = $100 Behringer FX600 = $50 Boss DD-8 = 150 Fender Rumble 200 = $600 So all added up the total is just shy of $2,000, at $1,980. But remember that this can definitely be done much cheaper, a big chunk of the expenses come from the amp, and the Ric, but I did run almost this exact setup through a $100 bass amp with a $300 Squier jazz bass and it sounded decent
