Part 4- Food, Stoves, and Cookware
Enjoy!
This is a continuation of our interview with Cliff. We just turned the camera on and let him go wild, talking about whatever he wanted to about canoe camping and camping gear! We'll be adding more segments as we get time to put them together.
There's some excellent in-depth advice given here.
Please join us on Facebook and also check out our paddling guides on our website.

Yes, on Cliff's food advice is great. I have been doing grocery store food for backpacking and canoe camping for over forty years. That is over seven hundred trips. Grocery store food works

Stoves... "No Plastic Parts"... I love it! My favourite stoves are the old ones. My go to stove for canoeing (without a lot of portages) is an old Coleman 2 burner that was built back in the 1960's. Got it fro $10 t a yard sale. I now have 4 similar ones.

When you PRE-prepare & deyhydrateyour own meals at home, then cook up your own cuisine in the bush, it's so much better, nutritious and gratifying than using those pre-packaged, freeze-dried meals. It's much cheaper too. And best of all, it's fast and easy to prepare in camp. I've got a few videos on my own channel for anyone curious about how to go about doing this. You'll eat better, save money, and get more satisfaction from every meal. -Martin

Excellent ! Thanks for all the advice. I totally agree about plastic handles on cookware. No plastic. I don't take a stove camping. I just use the campfire. Vegetarian. But I do like my instant coffee.

Thanks for posting this. Yet more great advice here. I only began using home-made pot cozies when camping recently, and what a difference they have made to keeping food piping hot, even when I'm winter/igloo camping. -Martin

I like to cook with no heat. Many dried foods rehydrate just fine with a couple of hours soaking before meal time.
