I wish they would bring this back. It was a beautiful show with incredible music. Oh and that backdrop...it is hard not to get a lump in your throat. The best show in the best park. I have watched this video dozens of times. Cliff, you did an amazing job at capturing this masterpiece. Nobody captures Disney shows quite like you. Your enthusiasm and dedication to creating stunning content is evident in all of your videos. Thank you for everything you do. You are awesome.
so many times when we were guests at disney in the past few years we tried to catch this show but the nights we were planned to go it would cancel due to the infamous technical difficulties this show endured. Once however, on our last trip down were we able to finally catch a showing and despite all the negativity around this show from the likes of the dis podcasts and posts on many fan sites constantly putting this show down we were extremely satisfied with seeing this show and vowed to always return to it when we go back. And then the perm shut down happened, so we are grateful for this mindblowing recording you have provided to always bring us back to that one night, that one lucky night we were able to finally see this. Thank you for your contribution of this magnificent recording. The quality and audio is perfection.
Wow! Thanks,.....yeah this was a labor of love for me. It was bold for Disney to make a show like this with completely new intelectual property like this that is NOT movie based! Also, the show was unique and so artistic. It required people to "think" about what was happening and why it was happening and I LOVED that about this show. Sadly, many just didn't want to invest too much "thought" into it and watch it and go. I did not like that they replaced the show with at all. Im so glad I got this footage when I did. If I had known it was going to end so fast, I would have gotten so much more! Anyhoo...glad you liked it. Tell your friends! ; -)

Thank you! I used some pretty special equipment on this and it really was a lot of work to get together. It took about 1 year on three trips. I incorporated some really cool techniques that I had never done before and it took a couple of bad recordings to get it right. Anyway...thanks again and tell your friends!!
I really miss this show. It fit the park so well and was so beautiful. The update was kind of bad. I believe the show and the soundtrack is already beautiful, it just needed to more action, or maybe some more specials effects would be really cool.

I LOVE "Rivers of Light" The original show version was so innovative and creative. The Shamen on the boats really gave this show "life". They were the ones that conjured up all the sights and sounds that we all saw. When Disney removed them from the show, they killed the whole thing! They removed the "life" right out of it! C'mon....boats just drifting arround empty? Uggg....well? Now its gone forever. I guess it will live on RU-vid forever. Im REALLY glad I got the footage before it died! Thanks for watching. @@clifftotten7609 I agree!! The Shamen should have remained in the show. They added a spiritual touch. I wish Disney could see things the way their fans do. But I guess they listen more to the bottom dollar instead. What ashame. But yes, thank God for "Forever on FILM"!! 👍🎥 🎬
Cliff!! Dude! Nobody else films like YOU!!! There are many videographers out there today, but NONE of them quite compare to your style. You really know how to capture the special moments in a show, and make them feel MAGICAL!!✨ Best way I could say it. Lol. And btw, I really think Disney should put the CAST Members back into this show, huh! 😉
It's the Shamen on the boats that are conjuring up all the animal spirits! Without them, the show is so lifeless. I mean, empty boats moving around the lake? It's literally SILLY without them! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you liked it! Tell your friends! Hehe! ;- )

@@kendallskeep - I dont release a lot of videos but I cant yell you that I have my last "Reflections of Eath Farewell 2019" video in production right now. It's a mega-production for me. It's by far THE most complex video I have ever created. I alsp have a vastly updated 4k "World of Color 2019", a new "Disneyland Forever 2020" and a new and much better "Fantasmic 2020" all in the pipeline. The Reflections of Earth Farewell is going to blow away the current version! Wahooo!
Clifflix, Once again, another amazing video. Your right, this is a beautiful show. Disney really got it right with the lighting, sounds, and music. Everyone expects fireworks in a nighttime show...so not to have that feature, is a hard sell. But congrats on YOUR work. You really edit this to capture the beauty of this show. I am shocked Disney has not hired you yet. Thank you for your videos and I am looking forward to your other new items.

Oh wow!,...thank you! Yeah,...this show was perfect as it was. Buy removing the Shamen, they stripped the "life" out of it. After all, it was the Shamen that were conjuring up everything we saw and telling us the story. They WERE the story tellers. It's now a shell of what it used to be....but I'm glad that I captured it before it died. :- (
This show would have been a hit if it had opened with Animal Kingdom, or at least when Everest was installed. In those days, Animal Kingdom was all about the wonder of Mother Nature and her animals. There was a certain mystic charm to Animal Kingdom. The big problem with this show was that it opened during the INTELLICTUAL PROPERTY years of the park. I hate what they are doing to Epcot and Animal Kingdom. They weren't designed to house the Disney Characters - they went beyond that. Sad that those days are gone. Now everything has to have a movie connection.
It was my second favorite show behind IllumiNations; Reflections of Earth. Rivers was a truly ORIGINAL concept show. Disney need MORE of this instead of repackaging shows with movie characters. Oh well,...at least it lives on here.
Wow!...thanks! It's a very emotional show for sure. Unfortunately, this original version is gone now. The Shamen on the boats, the very people that conjur up everything we see, were removed from the story. Now the boats just float around lifelessly. Im just glad I was able to caputure multiple angles of the original show before it died. Now, it will live here forever on RU-vid! Thanks!

Incredibly choked up watching this INCREDIBLE video. Thank you so much for taking the time to create it. This was one of the best multimedia shows Disney has created in the past 30 years and for them to systemically remove the actors and then change the music/story was criminal. I'm still so upset by it. Thank goodness we have incredible videos like this one to remember forever.
Thanks so much!. Yes, this show was a masterpiece! It was 100% new and original. It had no movie properties and that is what set it apart from the usual mix of well known Disney medley clips glued together. THIS show was a true "break" from those "common" things. Good news! 2022 will bring a refreshed edit of this show with some nice visual improvements! Stay tuned!!
Brilliantly captured video of this lovely show. Only saw the show once before it came to an end, so this is a wonderful reminder of the end of a perfect day at Animal Kingdom. We’ll done sir, for all your efforts to tell the story of this show! My only frustration is your rather intrusive on-screen logos keep catching my attention, taking me out of the show. It would be nice if these were much smaller, or better still removed entirely.
Sorry for the branding but my work is often stolen by people trying to use it as theirs. I have even had people try to cover my branding with theirs. In a perfect and honest world, I wouldnt need to protect my work like that. Sorry....

I only ever saw this show once, during my first trip to WDW, and seeing this through a fresh new pair of eyes, it was freaking amazing. I got super weepy. Sucks that they can't keep a night time show there. I know they can't do fireworks there for obvious reasons.
I think this was one of the very best shows Disney has ever made. It was completely ORIGINAL! It was not a show with a bunch of movie clips and songs stitched together. It didn't rely on Disney animated IP. It told a story of life and death and survival. It was so beautiful and unique! I just think that many people were expecting to seeing Disney Mickey Mouse or Moana or Coco in this show and never bothered to actually look at this properly. I'm going to re-color and re-edit this in late 2024.
Wow! This is the best video of ROL on RU-vid! It probably does the best at getting the feeling of being there watching it. The performers are leaving the production on Saturday September 29th and I am so glad I have something to look back on to see some of my good friends performing as the shamans! Thank you so much!
OMG!....if you know her, tell the blue Alcolye performer that she hypnotized me! When I was editing this video, I was just mezmorized every night by how she was moving and playing her part. She is the left Acolyte water performer in my video thumbnail. Wow! She is great. One night as the show ended, I went to the waters edge and bowed to her. She saw me and bowed back! I cant believe Disney will try to run this show without them....they ARE the show! They conjur up everything we see. Does Joe Rode know about this horrible idea?
CLIFFLIX I’ll be sure to! Joe Rhode probably knows but he doesn’t have a huge say in it because Entertainment is almost a whole different department from imagineering. So it’s really the entertainment department who are not renewing their contracts. (Most of them are on contracts and some just work at other shows in WDW and were pulled there. I believe the dancer you are talking about is one of the contracted performers.) Also performers coast a lot of money (I am a performer so I know a lot of this stuff lol) because you have to put in the coasts for safety, costumes, paying them, props, lights, etc. 5 mins of the show had to be cut out and the show was delayed because during a rehearsal the performer boats GPS’s mixed and one of them took a sharp turn and one of the performers fell into the lake (they all actually have built in lifejackets in their costumes which inflate by pulling a string somewhere on the costume. You can see around the chest the costumes are a little more baggy because of the life jackets) and OSHA made Disney either cancel the show or cut out the 5 minutes and make adjustments. So Disney cut out the tiny floating lanterns that were gonna be on the lake and the 5 minutes and delayed it to work on the gps’s and they placed a tech on both boats with steering just Incase the boat goes off course. Also something I forgot about makeup coasts that Disney provides too. They probably go through a whole makeup kit in 1 week because of how much makeup they wear per show. It would be cheaper to just not have them anymore unfortunately. Their future is unknown at the moment so they could always just be leaving for a few months to tweak the show/choreography. Who knows?
@@theabsoluteethanyt - Wow...that is depressing! Y'know those pirates anamatronics in Pirates of the Caribbean are also VERY expensive to maintain. Maybe Disney could have a brilliant idea and remove them from the attraction. I dont think they are very important to that story anyway. On Rivers of Light....Id rather see the entire show stopped if there are no Shamen and Acolytes! It makes no sense to have empty boats out there. Just end it rather that make a mockery of it every night.
CLIFFLIX yeah. Also this is how most shows at Disney work: Imagineering creates the show and does the set, some of the tech, and some of the bigger props. Costuming is its own department so they do everything on their own. The tech crew are their own thing and just makes sure everything runs right. The choreography is done in its own little department, same with smaller props. After the show debuts, the Imagineers are done with the show and have barely any say in it. The costumers only fix costume malfunctions and put them on the performers. The director will give notes here and there, and the choreographer will come back and tweak something every now and then. But the Imagineering have barely any say in a show after it debuts until a new show comes along. Also what pirates are you talking about?
TheAbsoluteEthan YT - On the Pirates....I meant to say that the pirate Anamatronics in the Magic Kingdom's "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride must be very expensive to maintain. Very costly!!! So,...maybe using Disney's current logic, they should remove those pirates completely from their ride. With no costly pirates to repair and maintain or worry about, they can operate that attraction at a much lower cost! Think of how much money they would save!! :-) Please pass this Rivers of Light video to all of your Rivers friends! I would LOVE to know what they think about it. I am sooooo sad to see these Shamen/Acolytes leave. VERY VERY SAD indeed!

@@CLIFFLIX Thanks, brother! It absolutely does. The story of connecting the living with with the spirits of creatures passed on was a really unique theme for a night show. Thank you for this meticulously woven together film of the experience - Especially now that our beloved shaman characters have been axed as a budget cut...It's definitely nice to relive it here.
I REALLY loved this show. It was so unique and powerfull. The best thing was that it was NOT the typical Disney medely of Disney cartoon properties. It was 100% "original" content with a beautiful story.
I'm sorry to tell you that this version of the show is gone. This is the original version with the live Shamen on the boats. The current version is been heavily scalled down and no longer has people on the boats. Sadly, the "true" Rivers of Light only lives here on RU-vid now.
@@CLIFFLIX oh well I guess that I will just enjoy the scales down version of this show and enjoy the rest of animal kingdom. I look forward to seeing pandora and dinoland. Pandora was not open on my last trip to animal kingdom.
This was truly one of my favorite shows at WDW, Right up there with Illuminations-Reflections of Earth. Really sad the the "general public" gave this a pass, because it's one of the most artistic things Disney has ever done. It was a perfect fit for Animal Kingdom. I miss this show, a LOT.

Could you please do a California version of that Soarin' Around the World and also give them this 1080p 4K Google Drive download option too? Also, when you do, please make that watermark of yours smaller and less easy to see. It's SOOOOOO annoying when trying to watch one of your videos with that thing...
It just doesn’t make sense. Why build something that’s going to be a spectacular and a few years later, they yank it away from guests. It’s just not fair.
