My dear sister died of MND. The last time she was in my car ,this song came on the radio. She said oh I love this ,turned it up and sang her heart out. Rest in peace my love ❤❤❤❤❤
Those of us who so loved his music....and his yearning vocal delivery -- will never let his songs die. I met Clifford at one of the annual conventions that helped raised funds while he was so ill. I read my appreciation of his work. And then we sat and spoke for awhile. But I never saw him again... Rest in song.......
This song touches every nerve in my being. The words and music makes me cry because its nostalgic. No mobiles or Internet all we had was telephones or letters to correspond. Any 1 of us from this era(which I was. ..) well, we were lucky we lived in the most simplistic of times and we don't hear music like this anymore xxxx bless you Mr Ward xxx
Johnnie Walker inducted this beautiful song into his 'jukebox' on this weeks Sunday afternoon 'Sounds of the 70s' show. He made specific mention that Sir Terry loved this song and played it a lot on his morning show. A lovely tribute from one sublime broadcaster to another. Thank Gxd for Johnnie! Oh and by the way, if you haven't found Johnnie's Sunday afternoon show on Radio 2 yet, do yourself a favour and listen in.
Only a beautiful soul can sing and write songs like this, and he wrote many, thank you Clif for keeping me company on these cold winter nights, you are a treasure and i wish i had the pleasure of meeting you RIP
I'm Scottish.....but this lad wrote such grand sweetness of songs that are so English...he and his words are so gentle, but strong in such sentiment....Love his words..so sad, but he lives on...
In these troubled times it great to listen to the magical music Clifford T Ward used to produce. Listening to these sounds is quite uplifting in these dark days. It takes me back to when life was so much simpler and carefree ( or was I just imagining it ). Anyway, thanks Clifford T for such amazing songs .
Takes me right back to my University days, listening to this song with my friend, he bought me Brownings Collected Poems, inscribed "Home Thoughts from Abroad is such a beautiful poem." Days long ago lost and forever gone.
Clifford was a very successful singer in Brazil in the ealry 70´s with Gaye, Home thoughts from abroad, the bes is yet to come and Ocean of love... Believe it or not, but Gaye is a song which is still played today in Brazil and it makes me remember my good old time of my youth. RIP Clifford and thanks for this eternal gift... your lovely and deep songs.
Clifford T Ward singing one of his best songs - confirming what an outstanding live performer he was. Hugely enjoyable - wish we could have seen more of his live work!
c t w was a brilliant singer songwriter died so young use to play this song over and over still know it word for word after all these years r i p clifford
I remember seeing him on BBC N Ireland talking about his illness and song writing. So long ago now but seems like more recent .How time goes by .RIP Clifford.
Beautiful man and stunning piece of music. Such an injustice how poorly he became. My parents took my older sisters to see him before I was born and he was so gentle. He picked one of my sisters up and his performance was effortlessly superb. So underrated for his exceptional talent for Song lyrics and gracious deliverance.....a true gem. ❤
Revisiting the brilliant Mr Ward. Used to listen to this song on a local radio station programme late at night and this song was the DJ’s sign off song at midnight.
Absolutely top drawer. What a beautiful song - ignore the wonky haircuts and 70s styles and listen to the melody and the lyrics. Compare this to some of the alleged music we have today - not all of it mind you, still some very good songs being produced - but think of rap and blokes wlaking around the stage chanting tuneless (and often offensive words) whilst jabbing their forefingers and little fingers up and down at the stage ... perhaps I am a dinosaur but I know which one will stand the test of time (as in the song is 40 years old)
"does the cistern still leak or have you found a man to mend it, oh and by the way how's your broken heart is that mended too" best words in the English language since shakespeare beautiful and chilling at the same tme
Heard this today on the radio and thought how sad that he passed away so young. A truly great songwriter and poet, he left us with a wonderful catalogue of beautiful songs for us to enjoy.RIP
I have quite a few of Clifford's albums and agree with the comments below, his lack of success was shameful really. However he's still with us on RU-vid and whenever I slip an album on to hear this brilliant artist.
I really do love the Robinson-Stone interpreters keeping Clifford's beautiful music alive. Hope to see them live sometime in Ireland where he had/has many lifelong admirers. Ride on Clifford.
@@hamburgerdan101 It shouldn't be either. It completes the pivot from the mundane and quotidien pleasantries that precede it to the subtext and the feeling of the song, a pivot which is emphasised by the harmonic departure in the line before and the truncated bar lengths. It's blunt and plain, and that's also moving.
