I haven't finished watching the video, nor come to the part re the 'famine'. Do ye know what I've pondered of late...there were many significantly grand buildings built in Ireland around the time of the famine..makes ye wonder..there was an 'explosion' of grand, new architecture in the mid 1800s by Charles Lanyon and the like .. don't get me wrong..i'm not questioning the starvation of people.. but.. building was going on when people were starving 🤔
@@donnasmyth45 There was lots of money still in the country just not in the hands that needed it. Same with food, lots of food but was shipped out for economic purposes as they the mercantile men would get a higher price exporting it out. Even the indian corn was priced to high for most. Was an experiment in free trade..
