Used to always visit Margate in the 70's and as such have a real soft spot for the place. Went there for a day last year and walked around Cliftonville as was where the guest house we used to stay was. The frontage by the Lido is enormous and has real potential and the nearby streets have grand 3 storey terrace houses. Sadly it appears they have fallen into the hands of unscrupulous buy to let landlords who have compartmentalised these properties into bedsits and tiny flats to maximise returns. Thus the area is a bit run-down due to poor maintenence and the transient nature of the residents. The basis is there to make the area every bit as desireable and trendy as Brighton and the like and I wish good luck to any attempt at proper regeneration.
Why did non of the 1.5 million allocated to Margate not get passed on to the Lido. I did comment on in the recent survey. I wrote on the posters so the public could see alternatives not sugested. Those poster were removed pushing only what some other company wants to control. What happened to democratic debut?
Wow looks good i love anything to do with swimming preferably outdoors ? Its a simple pleasure ive had since a small child yes i do enjoy the sea but its not realistic for most people all year round i have friends nearby so will visit next time keep up the good work
that place has started to seriously collapse ...it has become a lethal hazard that now needs highly specialist lifting tackle and/or demolition gear... - the way that place is, - if I stood next to it and farted then my fart would drop the entire place.......
