While I amazed at the feat of doing the two climbs in one push, I have to say that the Gran Paradiso is about the easiest 4000m peak you can choose. It is usually the mountain of choice for the guiding companies that sell the Mont Blanc. They take the clients to the Grand Paradiso first to aclimatize to the altitude. I have been up the Gran Paradiso twice (summer season AND winter season with skis all the way up to the final rock ridge). We didn't see any ladders though, seems like the crevases were still well covered in ice and snow. Matterhorn is still pending! Impressive feat anyway.

Description: "the 2 highest alpine summits" These are not the 2 highest summits in the alps. "in 1 day" it's clearly 2 days "solo performance" has other people carrying crampons (and I assume water/food) for her on Paradiso and clearly a mountain guide for Matterhorn. Incredible work and performance from her! But saying she chose the hardest format possible and in 1 day, while going in 2 days with lots of support and a mountain guide is not very honest.

I like how they always have to act as if everything an athlete did in their commercials was revolutionizing the world. I mean, you are an incredible athlete but everything shown in this video (for an athlete in Alpinism) is not incredible. Paradise is one of the easiest 4000, literally the first 4000 of 99% of amateur mountaineers, it's a high altitude snowshoe hike, and the Matterhorn, well it's climbed from the normal that today is classic alpinism (not technical), taking 7 hours with an alpine guide. I don't understand what would be exceptional, in 2 days then. It's all so dramatic, Fernanda Maciel probably has done things in her life that are 1,000 times more athletically complex.
@wolfgangpettay79

First of all: Well done! Big respect for your achievement. But why are you selling it as "2 mountains in one day"? 2 hours of sleep and then start the next mountain more than 12 hours later? I don't get it! And why do you choose two mountains that far away and with such a big difference in technical difficulty?
@rasher331
@rasher331 3 года назад
I was more concerned about the fact that she was almost pushing past other climbers just so she could save a few seconds. I wouldn't have been impressed if she did that to me on such a narrow trail. But very impressive achievement all the same, no matter how far apart they were. Matterhorn looked very technical and dangerous.

@luc4662
@luc4662 2 года назад
I also don’t get it. She started the first climb at 7:30 one day, and summited Matterhorn the next day around 10:30, so that definitely took longer than 24 hours. And why sleeping only 2 hours? Because of the drive maybe? Looks like she climbed Matterhorn from the swiss side, so that’s quite a long way. An impressive performance for sure, but I wish the video was clearer about it, and thumbs down to the clickbaity title.

1. If an athlete is that bad at speaking english it is way better to let them speak their native language and add subtitles. 2. That's not two peaks in one day. There's even more than 24 between the time she was on the summits. 3. The "statistics" are wrong. Total elevation was not 8539 meters, but rather 5000 meters (in ascend), since le Pont-Breuil is on 2000 meters, Zermatt on 1800 metres. The total "time on mountains" is rather 14 hours or more, since there is no cablecar on the top of Matterhorn. 4. It would have been very dumb to only sleep 2 hours of the nearly 15 hours in between the tours, so I highly doubt that. 5. Neither of the two mountains are the highest of the alps. 6. That was no solo performance since she used carriers and at least one mountain guide. The guy falling at 15:35 was roped up, so he would have survived a drop most likely.
@ThomasWuyts
@ThomasWuyts 3 года назад
Those are all fair criticisms. This video isn't very true to the spirit of mountaineering. Yes, she made very fast times, but the performance is indeed extremely inflated. I expected her maybe to do it all by (wo)man-power, starting in Pont, GP, running to Breuil Cervinia, climbing matterhorn up and down, which would have made it much more of a feat. Basically every mountain guide or fit alpinist could complete this exact challenge, maybe not as fast, but still within the exact same timespan. In fact, the mountain guide that got her up Matterhorn did complete half the challenge in exactly the same time and he wouldn't have much trouble with GP either... The normal route is one of the easiest in the Alps. Weird stuff highlighting this as an 'incredible, unimaginable feat in mountaineering', because it simply isn't.

Pretty girl but.... 1. I didn't see summit from Cervinia church to Abruzzi hut in the film. Did she run or elevate by car? 2. Short rope with guide climbing is like you run and somebody pulls you. That's not your own achievement. 3. Ascent is finished when you are in a base camp. Not on the summit. She did not come down at least to Carrel hut at 7:30AM. Nice video, but the name of it is not fair.

So total time on the mountain 11h 16min... counting only going UP the Matterhorn! How did she come down, since that way is more difficult? Also, wearing a jacket and some sunglasses is kind of the first thing you learn when doing alpine tours. I'm impressed of here fitness but not so much by the planning. Did the camera man give her the crampons? I don't see here wearing them when running below the glacier.

Really enjoyed this. Film quality excellent. She make one significant mis-statement when she said "she took the most difficult way to the top of the Matterhorn." The route she took is among the two easiest of the 45 + routes. Her choice was a little harder than the easiest, The Hornli Ridge. Her 24 hour accomplishment is praiseworthy, however. hmm, this is not such a big deal at all, in fact, if I was 25 years old I would have given it a shot myself and figure I would have a reasonable chance of completing the ascents in what is 2 consecutive days. It would be exceptionally hard, and I don't mean for a moment to diminish the achievement, but representing it int he way they have is a con. Its not one push, and it certainly isnt in a "day"... Did I miss something but she slept for "2 hours"? It is pretty close to an outright lie.
