As a Filipino person myself, it's part of our tradition and culture that we don't waste any part of whatever type of food we eat. If ever there are leftover, we feed them to our pets (dogs, cats, pigs, chicken, birds, etc.). With coconuts, those white "meat" is meant to be eaten, too, man...don't just throw them away, Filipino people don't want to see that. Those hard meat can still be useful and can be productive, they can be shredded or grinded and people can make some milk out of those, so please don't just waste them....🤔😂🤣

I am so jealous right now because I'm in the UK wishing I was back over there. I've had fresh coconut before and other fruits too, banana, Mango etc and they always taste that much better straight from the tree. If you have not spent a night gazing at the stars on a clear night over there you are missing a treat, it's awesome. I also seen fireflies when I visited one of the Islands there and humming birds too, a lot of People probably think that's no big deal but I love nature and got excited about it. Nice to see you are having a good time still and seeing lots of places

That coconut with opaque white meat is more for cooking or used for topping on sweet Filipino desserts. They are shaved or scraped from the shell. They are definitely edible just a bit tough, however you can eat that; don’t throw it away. I know you are respectful you’re just not aware and it comes across as rude. The shaving of the matured coconut like you have here is also squeezed to extract the juices which is then made to coconut milk. To make curry and other dishes. The best coconut meat to eat straight from the shell imo is from a young coconut and you don’t want to know what we call it😂 (malauhug or muh-luh-oo-hog) However the best I would describe it in English would be “almost jelly-like” translucent and quite soft in texture.

That’s not exactly true. Young coconut or buko is sweetest picked fresh from the tree. It loses freshness the longer it is stays unattached from tree.

The coconut tree is quiet short. Suitable for producing tuba or palm wine.
