Would you climb a mountain in 75km/HR winds?
A few months ago we went to Scotland's Isle of Skye to hike and climb some of its most renowned mountains in a subsection of the Cuillin Hills called Black Cullin.
For our second day on the Isle of Skye, we choose Bla Bheinn (Blaven) as our objective.
Our main challenge with climbing Blaven was the wind. There were 50km/HR winds developing throughout the day.
We managed to reach Blaven's summit before the conditions worsened, and returned safe and sound, however...
The following day's forecast worsened, predicting 75km/HR winds in our area.
We didn't want to waste the day, so we tried to hike to the base of Bruach Na Frithe, a stunning peak not too far from Bla Bheinn.
As we approached its base a gust of wind tore through a waterfall, sending it effortlessly in the opposite direction.
This is when we decided to turn back, leaving Bruach Na Frithe for another day.
