Ryan and I decided to climb Mount Burke on Canada Day. Located in the Rocky Mountains of Southern Alberta, Canada, it can be found in Kananaskis near Cataract Creek campground. There is an old Fire lookout at the top of the mountain (8340ft, 2542m) called the Cameron lookout. It was built in 1929 and abandoned in 1954. This was once the highest fire lookout in all of Canada!
The mountain itself is named after Denis Burke a local rancher and West Mounted Police veteran.
Watch as we ascend the "Hogs Back" ridgeline and summit to see all the magnificent views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains and Alberta Prairies to the East
This mountain brings back lots of memories for me as I climbed it in my youth in the 1990's with my dad and again with my friends just after high school. Ryan and I had a great time and we had a lot lof laughs climbing up it.
I hope you enjoy watching it.
