Climbing Mount Denali in the Alaska Range is a very challenging task. Mount Denali is North America's tallest peak standing at 20,310 ft (6,190 m). Climbing Mount Denali takes a lot of training and mental fortitude. Mount Denali often has brutal conditions adding to the challenge. Our aim to climbing Mount Denali was to take the West Buttress route over the course of 2-3 weeks.
Unfortunately, our attempt at climbing Mount Denali was cut short due to some sort of GI bug (thank goodness for antibiotics). We got pretty sick the night before we were set to move to camp V which left us too exhausted to continue climbing at higher elevation. Our symptoms resolved after 2.5 days, but it was enough to derail the remainder of our expedition on Mount Denali.
This is obviously not the result we'd hoped for. We were devastated by this. All the months of training and dedication that went into it were upended by an uncontrollable factor like getting sick on the mountain. Denali is a beast, and you need to be at your best to climb. We understood the risk we'd be putting the rest of our team at if we tried to continue.
We were still able to enjoy parts of the climb and we certainly learned a few things about ourselves. At the end of the day, we were still able to have another adventure together and that's what truly matters!
As always, thanks for watching and please make sure to subscribe to our channel and continue to follow along on all of our adventures!

Sorry that happened to you guys. I've been in a similar situation in that we made it to Camp 4 by day 3 and then top of the fixed lines (on a rest day)... then we got weathered in for about a week and had to come back down. I think of Denali often and may like to go back some day with the right crew. We had a crazy downclimb from 4 to 3 including one nerve-racking crevasse fall and felt very glad to get down safely and home to our families. Mountain will still be there!

Wow! Sounds like a heck of an adventure. This one is tough to swallow at the moment given how much effort we put into training (as I’m sure you’ve done yourself). But you’re right, mountain will still be there! Thanks for watching and your comment!

Absolutely stunning footage. Very sorry to hear about the setback but you made it back safely, and your system is dialed for next time or a different adventure. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you!! Yeah we’ll learn and grow from it for sure. Just a tough one to swallow right now

I know I mentioned this frequently but I learned that geography classes in some other countries teach people that Denali & Aconcagua are on the same continent.

@@marriedmountaineersYeah, especially since Denali is more closer to the Tian Shan mountains in Central Asia then it is to the Andes.
