Sonora Peak Trail is a 6.5 mile loop with 2,100' of elevation gain. Nearly half the loop forms part of the PCT. I climbed it with a buddy in about 6 hours including a hilarious (if dangerous) off-trail experience caused by a GPS glitch. Enjoy!

Awesome trip... Beautiful weather and scenery. Off trail part looking really sketchy... Those steep trails turn legs into jello fast. Enjoyed watching. Thank you for sharing, take care.

CA offers such a huge variety of day hikes. MI is beautiful, but it’s all MI woods. Good stuff! 🏕👍🤙

This video raises a question we often thought about. How do you define "wilderness". You and your friend, on the peak, in the present video, were the only folk in view, miles from any road. But yet, it was a day-hike. You could be back at your SUV for supper. ........ I watched two videos of Yosemite's Half-dome. Hard to do. Well away from road access. But, aircraft grade cables staked to the rock. And 50 people all perched within 12 feet of each other at the top. Folk passing each other going up and down, like an escalator. For most, a day-hike. There may be more actual solitude to be had, in a park in downtown Los Angeles. Yet, Half-dome is both difficult and dangerous, a feat for real men and real women. ............ However, I think my own idea of wilderness begins at least one, maybe two days' hike from the nearest road. Without very many others there. (I don't tell!) All the same, on one hike, a day from the access, twice we met people we ministered to re their life situations. Very satisfying to be of help. Hmm.

Yeah I dont know if there is a universally accepted definition but I think wilderness is simply lack of civilization. Proximity o civilization would seem to affect a given area's wilderness level too.
