That was the first NHL game I ever went to. I was eight years old. I could not believe that he got up and went out the Zamboni entrance. I’m thankful that he made it though okay. The last NHL game that I attended was the game that Richard Zednick got his neck cut in Buffalo. I may be the problem.

If the Vietnam war was ever good for anything it would be teaching medics the most extreme life saving procedures. It saved Clint's life. Hell I did 4 years in the Swedish military and took several combat medic courses but who the hell knows if that would be enough. Under actual stress and panic? Your training better be incredibly fucking (excuse my profanity) good.

@@gundalfthelost1624 the way I see it, no one is going to be good enough on their first try unless they are a psychopath (which is ironic) as they don’t feel the consequences of failure. You’re far more qualified than the average person or an amateur medic , but like you said nothing compares to actual medic veterans, they are genuinely a treasure
@ARunawayTrain
@ARunawayTrain 10 месяцев назад
@XXXTENTAClON227 The crazy part is if anyone but Pizzutelli is there, Malarchuk likely dies but this dude kept his cool, did what he needed to do and didn't let go until help could be administered. Jim literally had ice in his veins that day and it helped him to pinch off and compress Clint's. Field medics are just built different. My uncle was one in Vietnam as well and these guys are just unflappable.

The Buffalo medic served as a US Medic in Vietnam. He also was said to completely pinch the jugular vein and if Clint had been on the opposite side of the arena he would've bled to death. Pretty much the medic had witnessed so many gruesome injuries, his instincts kicked in and saved this mans life
@fender10g
@fender10g 3 года назад
seriously. And now he's helping others contend with their demons and mental health issues. You can't get more solid than that. Remember yall, you aren't any less of a man if you get help. There is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with taking care of yourself. You would go to the doctor for a broken arm--you should go for any mental issue. Be kind to yourself, take care of yourself, and help others when you can

Jim Pizzutelli, a trainer for Buffalo and former Vietnam combat medic, no doubt saved his life. He pinched off the Jugular and rushed him to the Dr's office which fortunately was at that end of the ice not far away. Had it happened at the other end, the outcome may have been different.

@@digitaldave5272 if your femur breaks it’s is pretty much a guaranteed compound fracture, your 2 biggest muscles are in your leg and they are constantly at odds with each other pulling opposite directions but your femur is strong enough to hold them at bay, but when your femur breaks there is nothing holding them back and they both contract fully which pulls forces the bone to come out of the skin

I understand how the Vietnam vet medic used his experience and skills to keep Mr. Malarchuk from dying from blood-loss. What I don't get is how did his brain get enough oxygen?
@BonnotAR
@BonnotAR 10 месяцев назад
That same trainer / medic asked him if he needed to breath, and when Malarchuk let him know he needed too, he would loosen the grip so Malarchuk could breath, which in turn would gush blood out.

@@BonnotAR Woaah can you imagine how hard he must've been pressing down? And it saved his life! Crazy cool shit. Still though you're talking about breathing, and breathing is about oxygen going into the lungs. What I don't understand is how that oxygen was transported up his neck to his brain, if all major arteries there were cut.
