Aug.09 -- Former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush discuss adjusting to life after the White House. They speak on "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations" in a conversation taped in Dallas on July 13.
W. was always know amongst Texans as a goofball before his presidency when he was a prominent figure and eventually governor. He is like your drunk uncle at thanksgiving that breaks the tension between family members with some tangent nonsense joke.
At 00:17 Bush whispers hit em’ with the song and without hesitation Clinton tells the song joke (how long and by whom has that joke been passed down from?). Amazing how sometimes rivals can become friends.
With the exception of the current blob of orange goo that sits in the Oval office, the former Presidents were political rivals not personal ones, so out of office it's easy to show friendships that had already begun years earlier, it's outside of the office where they get to nurture and nourish their friendships. I doubt that will happen with the orange goo. He's made everything personal rather than ideological. He's probably the most lonely president to hold the office, but that is his of his own doing and no one else's. I KNOW we won't have a week of remembrance when he passes. A week of partying but nothing remotely close to what we witnessed this week which was reverance for a President I didn't always agree with, but I always respected.
@@robinaddis-vaughn7271 they are all a part of the ANTI-HUMAN GLOBALIST New World Order. So they NEVER fought for the people of this country! Your a very NAIVE person and lack much in the way of TRUTH.
No matter whether you're a Democrat or a Republican we are all Americans. And that's what Bill Clinton and George HW Bush proved after they left office.
They are the reason Trump got elected. The hypocrisy the electorate figured out and affected the 2016 election and may affect the 2020 election in terms of a presidential candidate who may champion the social values of the Affordable healthcare, taxes for corporations, police reform, climate change, equality etc. People have been reminded through the late George HW Bush misgivings like the Gulf war and war on drugs which is still being felt today. The internet is educating many people on the facts more than mainstream media. Stay Woke
Yes. very mature. For those War Criminals who illegally invaded, de-stabilized and destroyed entire countries. forced the inhabitants of those countries to abandon their heritage and their land to live as refugees in foreign countries. Very mature of Bush, obama and clinton right? Such an innocent bipartisan friendship!!!
@@rossviles835 Jeez buddy. Why bring politics in it. What's fucking wrong with this day and age. It's all subjective, if you disagree you disagree but I agree with Michael. You can tell he has had a hardship life, along with Bush. I'm sure that happens after presidency.
I bet Afghanistan and Iraq didn't find him funny. But I get it, his demeanour is comical at times because he's such a clutz, a clown, a puppet. A deadly puppet!
@@Baseshocks What do you want me to respond to??? Why we went to Iraq??? It is pretty clear why we went. It wasn't for oil if that is what you think. That is just political agenda talking and the same simplistic rhetoric I hear spewed over and over for those that really dont understand. I know and remember why the US went there. I know when Bush made the speech that we were going to go after all terrorist countries. I remember polling of the American people and a majority were ok with that in late 2001. Bush keep to his word and went into Iraq. The American people and lots of politicians shit their pants over it. Even though many of those same politicians voted on it. The only thing I will give Bush Haters is the reason the US went in. The WMD should never have been suggested. We already had two perfectly good reasons to go in their and shut them down....Do you know what reasons they are or do I have to tell you that as well???
@@itsGREGSWORLD I also found it to be an insightful video. But what can I say? I was a young man when me made that statement and I just always hear it when he speaks. It was my first experience of hearing a president lie to a camera. I have had many such experiences since! ;)
Lee Johnson come on man. I’m left leaning and I know full well Bush didn’t plan the attacks. Stop saying shit with no proof. You’re just as bad as the republicans that you probably hate.
Bryan Herber Every President has to take life and death decisions. An awful but inescapable fact of life. There are two sides to every decision. I wasn’t in favour of the war at the time.
@@glswenson So far I haven't heard of any heart medication that affects the vocal chords -- unless it is inhaled. He always had a raspy voice -- it seems to have become higher-pitched, though, which is far from uncommon. Men's voices seem to drop in pitch when they are in their late 40s and to increase in pitch once they are past 70. I have no clue why, but I observed it. Women's voices often drop after 50 and stay that way. In both sexes, the voices become weaker because the vocal chords become less elastic.
JAYDOG XL obstruction of congress by telling his buddies in the senate to let him off the hook about bullying a foreign president for Biden blackmail, using presidential pardons for his buddy criminals that helped him out, accepting Russian bribes and help during his campaign, never paying taxes for his businesses, using his power to detain and exterminate US migrants at the border like animals, using the federal police as his personal bodyguards when they’re actually not his, instructing his lawyer to use his political office to protect him, the list goes on forever....
MiNeR ..it goes to show that we are given an illusion of choice. They both work together and are two wings of the same bird. This just shows me how both parties are complicit in corruption
Humble Graduate of The School of Hard Knocks No this is how the world is supposed to work. Petty political differences shouldn’t outweigh common decency. But unfortunately it’s happening in the U.S. Also politicians have moved both further to the left and right now. These two look like moderates compared to the new crop you people have voted for
Bush was really funny. Apparently in his second term when someone would come in he’d look under the table and when someone would ask what he was looking for he said “WMDs”
@Hugh G. Rection - Not too funny for the dismembered soldiers from the useless Iraq War. Worst president of my lifetime. Too bad Dick Cheney was running the puppet.
Hugh G. Rection oh hahaha he started an illegal war based on lies that killed 1.4 million innocent civilians and thousands of soldiers hahahahaha so funny 👁👄👁
Getting to know these guys now is really special. If u read between the lines a person that may have hated both or either of these men, after these videos of Clinton and Bush being real without pressure of acting Commander in Chief one may change their opinion . I certainly did. CLINTON BUSH REAL TALK
When the former presidents get together there are so many secret service people it's more like a reunion and they tell the secrets of the ones they are guarding.
It's important to remember that these people are still people. They have first names, for crying out loud! Favorite colors, favorite TV shows, etc. I always try to remember that.
Just love seeing these two together, and the Clintons relationship with the Bush family. Also how W and Obama respect each other after their differences.
@Mizz Thang He lies and cheats that it makes up for it, he may keep his promises but the guy is a clown, he and his supporters attack everyone that disagree with him and also he isn't what a president should be, like isnt polite
@@censored1360 you really think Donald Trump is your savior? Lol If you want power to the people look to the left (actual left not the base Democratic platform)
the_others we already have one you’re thinking back to 2009 to 2017 when we were lead by a dictator and idiot we were doing just fine tell that moron entered office I’m just proud to have president trump be president he has done so much with his power gotten rid of so much of obama care in which had maybe one are two good Products and took out many jobs sadly that made good health care products trump made Jerusalem the capital of isreal in which Obama stated in 2008 and 2012 he’d make Jerusalem the capital he didn’t trump did in a year trump got a 4.1 on his GPD and they said it’ll grow to about 4.9 probably and that hasn’t happened in a long time when Obama took office he took jobs away he got a 2.3 on his GPD 😂 what a loser every president before and after him have gotten a 3.0 are higher Trump made the bank taxes go down we’re they used to take about 37% of are interest to 35% that is going to help you keep more of you’re money plus earn more if you’re money Obama never did that Obama didn’t get north and South Korea to talk and come together Trump did and they both have not talked in 80 years tell Trump entered office you can try to come back with something good obama did but you cant cause he only did bad for this country Trump has done nothing but good for us you just don’t want to admit it cause you’re a loser like Obama.
@@lukesherman8633 At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone reading your response is now dumber. Thanks.
@@lukesherman8633 I'm sorry, but I refuse even to attempt to read this horrible mess of lowercase letters and run-on sentences. Please try to become somewhat literate before you write another RU-vid comment.
This was interesting to see these two men with genuine respect for one another letting each other talk about their lives.Could you imagine the Donald up there,it would be all about him and how great he is!.........Lol..Big difference in character.
@Gary Livingston - Fair characterization of Trump, but in regards to Clinton v. Bush, how could you possibly forgive Bush for the Iraq War & the tons of dismembered soldiers with PTSD for a war where we gained nothing and got nothing? Please tell me the point of the Iraq war.
Read "The Presidents Club" by Michael Duffy and Nancy Gibbs. It's a fascinating look at the relationships of sitting Presidents and the influence of their predecessors.
This is classy. As a Canadian, I respect both of these Presidents. Can't say I necessarily agreed with everything both did, but maybe it makes me remember how dignified the Presidents have been
I just love America, its values, its constitution, the people, the way of life and its values of freedom and democracy. I am not American and dont live in America but i surely wish God made me one. You (Americans) have such a wonderful powerful country. God Bless America.
@29Feb sober Europe? Where the deadliest mass shooting perpetrated by one person was? US is 62nd behind other countries in mass shootings, you have been victim of selection bias and alarmism.
"If I can ever help you I will do it." "... I will never embarrass you in public. " "... but I will always (comment) respectfully." Echoes from a more civilized time.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but so do I! I’d take any of our former Presidents currently alive over the White House Occupant any day! Even if it’s just until January! 💙💙💙💙
I will always love the President Bush's family. According to me, We are American, and we need to respect The president of The United states of America regardless of Republican or Democratic party. God bless America 🙏💖
Being a political rival doesn’t need to mean being an enemy. It’s important to listen to those you disagree with and love them as you would any other. In the trump era, many have forgotten this.
In an interview with Ladybird Johnson on arriving home after leaving office, she said: " Our boxes arrived the day before. Lyndon and I opened the garage to find them stacked up. I felt like Cinderella after midnight."
brownbear It might be unknown to you but Clinton has an appalling record in Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan and especially Kosovo. Thousands of innocent people died due to his deeds (including children).
Bush got an extremely shitty end of the stick with 9/11 hitting only 8 months into his first term. His entire presidency was characterized by that and most of it had nothing to do with anything in his power or control. Imagine the kind of president he would have been without 9/11?
