The Good Will Hunting bit is such a simple (and genius) premise on it's face, but there's nobody else on this planet who could actually execute it like this. He's a master
Spot on. That’s what makes a great comic; they see the mundane things all the rest of us do, but they are able to see the hilarity and hypocrisy in it and combine it with elite storytelling. It’s amazing when you think about it.
yeah, Recently I've watch a clip of a girl comedian who had a monkey and had sex and the monkey was jealous and shit on the bed. That's a good comedic material. Wasn't even close as funny as this clip.
I’m Sorry Goodwill hunting was a 5 minute segment from his life? Or a well known highly acclaimed movie that resonates as a notable reference for a wide audience?
This is why he is my favorite comedian of all time. Anyone else would be canceled for life, but he owned it, turned it into something we could all relate to, and made it into yet another absolutely hilarious bit. This man is a genius and should never stop doing stand-up. Ever
I don't know what the rest of his special is like, but I imagine there are some topics he's going to avoid. But I think that may actually make him funnier. I always felt like his sexual humor was his worst stuff.
Just watched it tonight, fucking great. One of the few comedians who hasn’t had a special that has been dramatically worse than their previous. Still killing it and still getting better
I've been following Louie for years, well before I became a parent. I've always found his pieces on parenting hilarious. Then I had a baby. And thanks to Louie I was prepared. Instead of panicking, i laughed to tears at some of the "adventures" that happened to me as a mom. I owe it to Louie. As well as I owe him so many of the best laughs ever. Thanks for coming back.
Yeah, this #metoo movement really did a number on him. No need to crucify the guy. The women need to grow up. They knew him, they could have walked away. I say if it's not a crime you report to police, then you don't try him in the media.
Yeah, he's funny! This really had me smiling. (I never thought his transgressions were that awful. Anyhow, he was the only man who apologized instead of denying stuff; who owned his actions - and he was punished for his honesty! Seemed unfair. He's really funny here, so it's great he's back.)
I have the utmost respect for Louis CK. He accepted responsibility in his situation and didn't hide behind a bunch of excuses. He could have hid behind lawyers and PR reps, but he didn't. He is a father. Part of his fatherly duties is teaching his children to accept responsibility, even in the face of adversity. I don't think enough people get that. Happy Easter to you, Sir. God Bless!
The special is so good...when they're playing Bob Dylan's "Like a rolling stone" in the opening credits and it leads to him walking on stage to a rapturous standing ovation...he almost got emotional for a split second then got on with the show like a professional....welcome back Louis!
Louis is still the guy that made me laugh the hardest in my life. Him having done some regrettable shit doesn't make him not funny. I was at one of his specials, good memories. Thank you for coming back.
@@paulies5407 Yeah, definitely not criminal, but regrettable for sure. I mean, for all we know, something about what he did must have been wrong enough towards the women involved for him to get called out for it. But yeah, people really tried to put him into that Weinstein category, which is arguably worse than whatever he could've ever done. Cancel culture unfortunately enables some of the most deranged people on the planet. It wouldn't surprise me if him and his family still receive death threats and other shit because of it.
The irony about it is the entire story/script/movie was thought up so that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck could act as the leading roles ... So even the intentions of the movie had that feel behind it. "Hey Ben, since nobody is giving us the main parts, let's write our own movie where we're the main characters" - "Yeah sure Matt. That means we can play any character we want. What do you wanna play?" - "**cue Louis CK typing as Matt Damon**"
I fucking love Louis CK. He’s the GOAT as far as I’m concerned. Every special is a hit. He puts out quality AND quantity over a variety of mediums. Saw him do this material in Michigan last month and I’m grateful that I can relive it in this special.
Let's be real he's top 5 for our generation no doubt about that. That being said Chappelle is the GOAT. I don't even think anyone really comes close to Chappelle. It's him and then everyone else can debate about #2-5.
Saw this is Rochester - im Canadian but flew to NYC for a 5 day trip then drove to Rochester and back to Toronto. I was a journey and SO MUCH FUN. I'll do anything for good comedy. I feel like this is his best special since Hilarious! Can't wait to watch this tonight!
I searched for Louis CK because I realized that I haven't been laughing out loud and throughout the story I forgot my objective and at the end he literally made me laugh out loud uncontrollably I need that genuine laughter in my life
In comedy: there's a big difference btwn polite chuckles, maybe a golf clap.. And full out shrieks and laughs that wake your neighbor. This bit was masterful. Obviously, the patented CK delivery and pacing is expected yet appreciated.... but the writing here is very fresh. Great stuff, CK
im dying of laughter man, the media can try to cancel him all they want, but it wont change the fact that hes the one of the greats and a master of comedy
Netflix backed Chappelle, and the mob went away with their tails between their legs. I do agree though. Comedy will have to bypass studios, because those studios, are run by the biggest pussies ever. They weren't always though. Just the Hollywood trend now.
I am sorry, I cannot help laughing my ass off whenever he does standup. It is what it is. Louis, Bill Burr, Chapelle etc...are incredible at what they do. Legends of comedy
Saw this most recent tour and I’m still going to watch this. With my 18yr old daughter who loves Louis, no less. It’s great to see a genius at work-we get to see so few in a generation.
Went on this special in November in PA, my body was hurting on the next day from all the laughter I had. He’s absolute genius and I’m really happy he’s able to continue his performances of those masterpieces. I salute you sir!
Unfortunately not fully in the public eye though. Where he should be. Were it not for all the shit that went down, we would be able to watch this on Netflix right now. I just went to check it out and it cost $10. Which doesn’t bother me. It actually bums me out that the only money he will see isn’t from some massive deal via streaming, but people spending 10 bucks and/or buying merchandise on a website. I still say this man deserved better. It seems like we’re living in a world where redemption is no longer possible.
That scene is one of my favorite ones in the movie and CK completely destroys the entire self- aggrandizing nature of it by using logical humor from a writer's perspective. Brilliant!!
It seems simple and you think he'll make two or three jokes out of this skit but he just keeps rolling on and on and it just gets funnier and funnier, pure genius and to think he was almost cancelled for life.
No....hes not. Bill Burr is much funnier. So is Dave Chappelle. So is Shane Gillis. Many other funnier people. And none of them are genius. They tell funny stories for a living
@@thedancingveganatheist6310 Comedy is not subjective only unfunny people say that when their jokes dont work. Comedy is funny. And funny is undeniable. I'm not saying Louis isnt funny. But one of the best? Not even close
@@marcodenuzzio441 I don’t get Bill Burr. He seems to just rant. I think LCK is so creative, so much more creative as to be on another level. Chapelle is great. It depends on how you define genius. I know for a fact that you cannot do what they do. Someone said there’s only five funny people at one time. Maybe it’s an exaggeration but I do think there’s only a few people out of tens of millions who can get up on stage and be truly funny for an hour. I’m sure the word “genius” here is used in a manner of speaking. It doesn’t mean traditional IQ tests obviously. Well, maybe it’s not obvious to you.
God he's so good.... Definitely heading to the website asap and buying the special. Can't think of any other comedian where I'd be so willing to pay for their content....
I didn't think this was as good as Sincerely. Still mostly high quality comedy, but also some pretty typical jokes and some forced ones.. And even some stuff that just wasn't high quality comedy to begin with. this peurto rican fart bit for example. C'mon...
dude cancelled himself by not working. now he lazily comes back looking senile and speaking about the most mundane low-hanging fruit. if this is his strongest, he is one dim-witted boring fucking comedian. i think he "cancelled" himself because he knew that there was literally nothing interesting about him or his life, and media couldnt find anything to relate him to. "louis CK the.... the... orange-haired... uhhh... hes worth your time- i swear, hes like, uhhh.... he did a sexual assault a few years ago? what else, hmm.... he's a comedia- oh he's really boring? oh hum, uhhh"
Dude is my GOAT! He has a talent for finding the funniest things in the least obvious places and then craft the most killer delivery. Layering humorous premise upon premise until it reaches maximum potential. There was a study done at Purdue University where researchers found that this pandemic sucked 32.7% worse than it would have if Louie had been out doing stand up and / or television.
There you are making me holler as I squeeze my homemade orange juice after an excellent workout! -I'm in pain from the abdominal muscles, BUT THESE 6 MINUTES WERE F. WORTH IT! DAMMIT, I LOVE YOU LOUIS!
His voice sounds nice. He looks a lot older but he sounds great, and he's soooo funny: you forget about anything else. It's so good to smile nonstop and laugh! Great job, Louis!
What do his looks have to do with anything regarding his comedy? Why even mention it? Are you gorgeous, or do you look a bean bag filled with cottage cheese?
@@wt9767 Kind of in between, why? I like Louis' looks; I only meant that entertainers lose their popularity when they get older, sometimes; wasn't criticizing him. Mentioned it because it struck me and I mentioned it because it was in my mind. I knew it sounded a little awkward and figured it might draw a response like yours, but I decided to blurt it out anyway. Louis c.k. is trying to make a comeback and it might be harder when you've aged somewhat. Because audiences can be fickle and shallow, not because it has anything to do with comedy. - Why are people in social media so reactive and hostile? - Edit: actually, rereading my comment, it does sound weird, "you forget about anything else." As if he was deformed or something. And so what if he was! I didn't mean it like that. I was just tired. Hadn't seen images of him in a long time. Your response was not inappropriate.
There's an episode of Futurama where Fry goes to Mars University and rooms with Farnsworth's super smart monkey. And the monkey gets a girl's phone number after Fry fails to, and shows it to Fry and says, "I got her phone number, how do you like them applies?". I laughed because it was a funny line, but as I've never seen Good Will Hunting, I didn't know the writers pilfered it from the movie. So I'm sitting here watching Louis explain that scene from the movie and I yell at the tv: "NOW I GET IT" lol
I haven't actually physically laughed out loud this hard at stand up bit in a very long time. Most stand up specials make me mildly snort air out of my nose. I was full on cackling at this the entire time. God I love Louis.
Phoenix Fei'Ren huh? He is telling jokes. There’s nothing to agree or disagree with really. He found a funny perspective to think about that movie from. It’s not really deeper than that.
