Mary died in February 2020, aged 85. Reunited with her son, at last.

Dead people are dead, they do not meet again. There is only one life, and to waste it because of parents' bigotry is a worse crime than what any religious nonsense defines as sin. Mary Griffith should have died a long time ago. Preferably INSTEAD of her son.

@@cush6827 Mary is human. You act like she’s not. She was ignorant and blind. I’m not saying what she did was inexcusable, but you’re no better than she was if you can’t understand that people make mistakes when they don’t understand. The human race is afraid of what they don’t understand and that’s when they screw up. Again, not excusing her actions, but they’re forgivable. Saying she should have died instead is a messed up mind set. Mary spent the rest of her life punishing herself for what she did to her son. She did her best to advocate for those who are gay to change the mindsets of people who were like she was at one point. She did that to do her son right and try and stop the same thing from happening again. Don’t forget that she’s human.
@cush6827
@cush6827 3 года назад
@@Paige-wo3uk Her actions are inexcusable and NOT forgivable. And you are in fact attempting to excuse what she did. What she did was not some mistake as a slip of the mind, it was the expression of her character's very substance. It was not a question of her understanding but of her choice. And in a society of just one species, being human is never an excuse for anything. Her idiotic religious views are no excuse either. Religion is a fundamentally erroneous worldview, especially abrahamic religion. She wanted her son dead. But objectively, it is better if people like her are dead. The world is better off without homophobes.
@Paige-wo3uk
@Paige-wo3uk 3 года назад
@@cush6827 I’m NOT excusing her actions. She’s 100 percent forgivable. You are putting words into my mouth I didn’t say. You can’t say homophobia is her characters substance. Homophobia was the result of her acting out on something she didn’t understand or care to understand. That doesn’t make her excusable. But you’re immature if you think that once a homophobic always a homophobic. This woman changed. And you’re also INSANE to think that she wanted her son dead. She’s a mother. Who cried and felt emotion when her son died. Regret. She changed for him. I’m not saying she was a good mom to him because she want. She was terrible and abandoned her son. But saying she shouldn’t be forgiven is the exact mindset behind why the world is the way it is. People change. People educate themselves and change. I have a family member , also used to be VERY homophobic. Said terrible things which could have easily caused someone to do the same thing. Luckily nothing happened. They became educated and I forgave them. You act like homophobic people aren’t also human. I cannot forget not excuse what that homophobic family member did, but I forgave them because they changed and made an effort to also educate others.

I have been forever in awe at the performances of the many fine actors in this incredible piece of work, Sigourney Weaver on particular. It is so clear how much this movie, and its subject, means to her, and how this movie has saved lives and educated..... What just struck me, however, watching this clip, was as Mary's speech progressed, it went from Mary addressing the town council to, in its way, breaking the fourth wall and actually addressing the audience of the film. Brilliant in its presentation, genius in its planning, all the more powerful in its delivery.

@762submoa Romans my friend is one of the Epistles(letters) of Paul, not the word of G-D! Though Paul became a great evangelist, some of the writtings in his letters display all the prejudices of a 1st century Pharasaic Jew! One moment he'll praise women for their contribution, then the next he'll insist on their silence! Though he did more to spread the "good news" than anyone in his time, he must be read with caution! When I was 16, I tried to came out to my mother and before I did she said to me to think what I was going to say because I was probably to going lose a mother. That broke my heart and made me realize there was going to be a point in my life when that was going to be a reality, I grew up with the idea that my mother was going to stop loving if I decided to embrace who I am, but then she saw this movie and she realized her love was stronger than her wrong beliefs. Both my parents and all my family love me and support me today and that healed all the pain I suffered in silence years ago.

How can it be a 'sin', i thought god created everything? If its a bad thing, somthing that will send you to hell, why is it created? Why create such feelings..if its 'bad' im gay and most importantly, im proud of who i am!
@jdparamount92
@jdparamount92 6 лет назад
Tcrack0299 Truthfully, if people really knew what the Bible says, they'd realize that being gay is not what is wrong. Jesus himself said in Matthew 19 that some people are born gay. Sadly, people who read that chapter only focus on the first section about divorce and totally ignore the next section altogether. You see, he speaks about 3 types of eunuchs, one of which being a "born eunuch" was understood in that day to be what we call gay today. Also, Jesus actually blesses a Roman official and his boyfriend, but you would never know because of how the Greek has been erroneously translated. The text says that Jesus offered to go to the officials home and heal his boyfriend, but the official felt unworthy to have Jesus come to his home, and said, Just speak the word and my boyfriend will be healed. And he did so. And Jesus actually commended him for his faith because none of his own people exercised faith like that.

An overlooked part of this scene is at 0:51 when we see Bobby’s grandmother with a look of sadness and regret after Mary mentions how her son jumped off a bridge. You know she feels regret for the beginning of the movie when she says all homosexuals should be lined up and shot not knowing the emotional pain she was causing her own grandson. This is such a powerful movie and brings me to tears every time.

I was teenager when I saw this movie. I cried so hard because it resembled me of my relationship with my mom. A few years later, I tried to commit suicide. I almost fell off of a bridge. A bunch of straight guys passed by car and screamed me to jump off. I was about to do that, but suddenly a man pulled me away frrom the edge and saved my life. It if were maybe for a few minutes later, I would be gone. Watching this movie again is so much more painful. I just can't take it.

I'm no Christian but I'm the kind of person who believes that God loves his children no matter who they are or who they're with. The man who saved you for a reason so you can teach others to accept homosexuality. Who knows, that man was probably an angel.

I realize this video is very old, but it's these self righteous Priests, Pastors, and Church members that cause so many to split hell wide open. We are taught in The Bible to love The Sinner, not hate them. We are supposed to share the Gospel, not tell them how disgusting they are. We are supposed to show people that the rejection of Christ is what sends you to hell, not the sins you commit; In The Bible it says in Romans Chapter 3 Verses 10, 11, 12 and 13. "As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps under their lips" We are all sinners, I'm so sick and tired of holy than thous, the self righteous, and the prigs that infest The Church. My heart breaks for Bobby and I truly hope he did accept Jesus in his heart before he died, because if he did, nothing else matters.
