Exclusive interview of Kanye West for Clique.tv
We have always wanted to interview Jean Touitou. Despite shying from the media in recent years, the discreet Jean Touitou finally invited us to the A.P.C headquarters where he spends most of his time. A few days before the show of his new collection, we talked History, his life history, fashion history and fashion. And about Kanye West.
Jean described a Kanye we had never previously heard about.He talked about a curious man with an incommensurable hunger to learn, fulled by a passion for fashion. A man eager to know all the ins and outs of the industry, from sourcing to production to presentation to the public. Before showing you our portrait of Jean Touitou, we were lucky enough to cross paths this rarely encountered Kanye, a few days later at the A.P.C offices. This is our exclusive interview, the only one given in France. We discuss the future, fashion, racism, education, street knowledge and the new collaboration between Kanye West and A.P.C.

Depuis quelque temps, nous avions envie de réaliser un portrait de Jean Touitou. De plus en plus secret et discret, Jean Touitou nous a finalement reçu dans les bureaux de sa marque A.P.C. où il passe le plus clair de son temps. A quelques jours du défilé, nous parlons de l’histoire, de son histoire, d’histoire de la mode, et de mode. Et de Kanye West.
Jean nous le décrit comme on ne nous en a jamais réellement parlé avant. Il nous parle d’un homme curieux, qui a une soif incommensurable d’apprendre et qui est animé d’une extraordinaire passion pour la mode dont il veut connaitre tous les tenants et aboutissants. Avant de vous faire découvrir le format long qui sera consacré à Jean Touitou, c’est ce Kanye West que nous avons eu la chance de rencontrer quelques jours plus tard, toujours chez A.P.C.

c'est simple: il pose de vraies questions à ses invités. il n'est pas là pour les piéger et faire du buzz sur le net et passer dans le zapping. du coup il a moins de vues. et surtout que c'est un français d'origine algérienne qui fait un putain de travail de recherche sur les personnes qu'il interviewe pour avoir un résultat de grande qualité. et malheureusement en france on en est arrivé à un stade où lorsque tu n'es pas de type caucasien, bah tu dois faire 10 fois plus afin d'être reconnu à ta juste valeur.

Kanye West is a living legend and a genius. His music goes past the feeble mind because of its diversity and uncontrollable creativity. He is the ONLY mainstream rapper that releases albums that are barely alike, always giving us new material. He is the most introspective, creative, interesting person in today's music. These are probably the best interviews out there. Instead of asking about what drama the artists are caught in or what they spent their money on, we get a really good look at who the artist is as a person as well as what perspective of life that they have to make the music that they make.

+CLIQUE Pour l'anecdote Karim Boukercha est l'homme qui m'a appris à apprécier le travail de Mouloud Achour (c'était pas très dur mais sans lui je serais passé à côté) et maintenant je peux dire que Mouloud Achour est l'homme qui m'a appris à apprécier Kanye West (c'était beaucoup plus dur car je n'aurais j.a.m.a.i.s. imaginé pourvoir dire cela). Yes, it was a bit short. But he tried something new. Of course the others were great. He stepped away from the mainstream (radio) music and decided to go new routes. I truly believes he's at least 3 years advanced. People are going to appreciate Yeezus way more in the near future.

Mouloud...A travers ce brillant entretien, tu as su exposer la vraie personne de Kanye West. J'étais comment dire...plein de préjugés sur le personnage. Une RU-viduse m'a fait connaître Clique et franchement je suis tellement contente de connaître ! Mouloud, tu arrives a montrer une facette tellement plus intime, réel et humaine des personnes que tu interview ! Pour revenir à Kanye W, je n'aurais jamais penser que c'était quelqu'un d'aussi réfléchi, passionné, posé et aussi bavard (j'en perdais la question posée à force d'écouter ses réponses personnellement ahah), il fait partie des humains que je vais suivre de plus près dorénavant. Great interview. The title will be taken out of context FOR SURE but Kanye's thoughts are interesting as always. If the world is run by large entities/corporations/etc. and the masses are merely sheep, Kanye is one of the few exceptional people so radically different from the masses that they should be incorporated into the large entities that rule the world. It's kind of like the anime Psycho Pass. Kanye is a person beyond normal conceptions of character/class/race/ethics/etc. Essentially, the ruling class should reflect every element of those being ruled and Kanye would make an interesting member of that class.

It's quite amazing how humble ,grounded and authentic Kanye is in this interview. Intelligent and intuitive this guy is, despite his ego at times and the racism thing he said, this was a well interview. More people needs to see this side of Ye. Enjoyed watching it!:)

Ce qui est très intéressant chez Mouloud Achour c'est que moi personnellement je ressens cette forte influence américaine dans le concept de son émission "Clique". Y'a clairement comme une fascination chez lui dans la culture Américaine et particulièrement Afro-Américaine. Tout est dans le style : the French Touch (côté intellectuel) et the Algerian Touch (côté audace et directe)...Ca donne Clique. Emission avec de vrais interview intéressant pour l'artiste et la preuve après toutes ces années les artistes sont contents de venir et parfois il nous décroche de superbes exclusivités mondiale. Il est là où d'autres journalistes ne viennent pas ou ne savent pas venir. Il met suffisamment en confiance les personnes qu'il interview et surement qu'ils lui font confiance la preuve y'en a qui revienne (comme Vin Diesel par exemple) je pense que c'est pour ça que ça marche. Pas le genre à trahir d'où la confiance qu'on les artistes envers lui. Ses questions sont pertinentes, il met à l'aise et prends son hôte d'égal à égal, dose d'humour typiquement à la Mouloud, ça doit leur changer des questions des journaleux aux USA du genre "t'as mangé quoi au petit déjeuner ?" ou encore "vous couchez avec la fille de Elvis Pressez-les-moi alors ça fait quelle effet ? non ici ils se lâchent les artistes, ils répondent à de vraies questions intéressantes. Ils sont en confiance et à l'aise, en plus Mouloud sort les gros moyen quand on sait la team qu'il y a derrière la caméra, le décor qui n'est jamais parel. en plus il a une vraie culture le mec. Une véritable culture musicale, culture Hip-Hop, culture cinématographique, culture artistique en générale...etc...Je connais très peu voir aucun journaliste aussi bon que ce mec Mouloud Achour. Clique je la regarde depuis sa première émission et d'entrée de jeu j'ai adhéré, je kiffe clique.

Refreshing to see the real Kanye West talking about the craft again. He's pushing the structural boundaries of rap/hip hop against the need to make hits and maintain that connection with their fans. He does care a lot about what he does and works as hard as anyone in the business. The interviewer did an exceptional job making Kanye feel comfortable.
