Clitheroe to Manchester Piccadilly - Pies and Poetry - 25th May 2024
A trip to Manchester, but today's starting point was from Clitheroe in Lancashire and changing at Bolton on my way to Manchester Piccadilly, and stopping there and Blackburn on my return journey. Manchester Piccadilly is always busy and there were numerous Class 150, 156, 158, 185, 195 and 197 DMU's, class 323, 331 and 390 EMU's and a class 67 on services operated by Northern, Transpennine Express, Avanti West Coast, East Midlands Railway and Transport for Wales.
Bolton I discovered isn't just famous for pies, but poetry as well which was a bit of a shock as its not somwhere I would expect a bit of culture. Blackburn was awash with Northern DMU's and for some reason they were having trouble with the information screens not showing all services leading to a little confusion for passengers.
Unfortunatley the weather wasn't great for most of the day, but it did eventually improve for when I eventually made it back to Clitheroe in time to see A4 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley passing through the station on the Fellsman from Carlisle to Crewe.
