In this video, Chris shows you when and how to repair a worn saddle for a strip pallet recoil escapement. Thank you to Bob Little, CC, CW of Ohio for his Technical Support. Referenced article is July 2014 edition of Horological Times.
So very timely. I just cleaned up a similar New Haven movement and was surprised that it ran at all with such a worn pivot on the pallet. I might invest in some tools and fix that now so thanks.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. I asked you about escapement repair a while ago and you'd get to it,thanks. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Beautiful video. I see several videos where the bushings are placed in the ovalized holes in the sinkers of the pendulum clock or in the alarm clocks but I have always seen them put under pressure. Can you explain to me why in this case you made a soldering iron? And in case of replacement if over time the welding does not cause further damage during the removal of the old bush? I hope it's understandable I don't speak your language and I'm using google translate. Thank you. Bellissimo filmato. Grazie.
