Awkward location, I guess that rusty tank/cylinder was fitted at a later stage to make access for you more difficult. In years to come a lot of those pipes have to be replaced as they will eventually rust through.

Why do they insist on flushing grease down the toilet or pouring it down the drain? They should be charged extra for having done it. Another great video 📹 👏 👍

Why do people always think they're flushing grease down the drain? It's a restaurant - every time they wash dishes they're washing grease down the drain. It builds up over years. You need a little plunger that fits down the U-trap with a flexible handle so you can push crap up on the other side (or feed the handle through first so you can pull the stuff out the other side).

That U shape trap looks like a sure way to create clogging, slowing down the flow of the water and letting deposit of soap and grease to easily forms along the pipes and U trap itself. I wish to ask you whether this kind od aystem is still used in new constructions or is no more implemented, I never seen that in other countries.

Not too bad of a mess, but man, there's got to be a better way to get rid of grease than flushing it. I was taught at a young age that grease and oil don't belong in the drain, and to take it outside and dispose of it that way.. or you found a container to put it in and put it in the trash as a solid. On another note, Ratty got a wipes coat today from Ollie, and a piece of corn. Was a good day for all!!!

Is that a containment wall for the oil tank and if so is it really for the sewage?

Awkward position to get to, you seemed to struggle getting your flexi cable thing into the u pipe is this to do with that kink in you flexi thing cable not spinning central? Anyway you got the job done as always. nice job great video

Why didn't you put back the outer cap, just poke the block, and quickly put the inner cap, so the water could drain the pipes and clean it afterwards and put new caps?

I would cut that trap out if it was my house. I don't understand the purpose of having a trap as soon as the main comes in to a house. All fixtures have traps, so what's the purpose for this?

fermented sewer grease is the Most. Disgusting. Smelling. Shit. There. Is. period. I remember I as 16 and I was doing my very first plumbing unclogging job at my at the time girlfriend's grandma place. The lady was sweet and loving, and she was making cookies for a living, and the pipe that went from kitchen to the main stack was a 50 mil cast iron and it got so fucking clogged with solid grease it was impossible to unclog, even with a freakin rotating cutter couldn't break that shit open that I borrowed from a plumbing supply store. It was that bad because of the fact she washed many huge pots and pans covered in grease daily with as little amount of water as possible so she basically drowned the pipes in solid grease log, and she didn't use warm water either, she was saving money. And during the process it splattered and covered everything in grey solid fermented butter grease and it got so bad I vomited once, then twice, then had to go get a breather, and came back and just got all the tools together, promised the lady I will come back next morning and just straight up smash all cast iron pipe away and replace it with pvc and it would be the end of it. Done that, and even installed a bloody 3 inch line to the sink trap so it doesn't clogs as easily. I still remember that smell, sewer grease is the most revolting disgusting thing ever. I would hands down dive into a shit filled pit than do the same thing in a pit of liquid fermented sewage grease. Hands down.

I think that's one of the more gross episode cleaning. The smelly rusty caked on crap on the inside is crazy

Why does NY require these U traps? Seems like a stupid design that just causes more problems for home owners/business's
