Clone Corner # 136: The most EXPENSIVE 3.75" Clone Troopers... and why they're so pricey... 

I appreciate the real talk at the end! There is something to be said for just collecting what you enjoy, how you enjoy it. Collecting shouldn’t be a competition and it shouldn’t break the bank (unless you can, if I were Jeff bezos I’d have a lot more clones I’m sure). That’s why I started collecting “Clone Trooper oddities” and also beat up figures from $1 bins. They are cheap and they are well loved, and to me they tell a cool story.

I remember back in 2017, I went to a toy store with my friends and found OG TVC Fordo mint on card for $15. I picked him up and to this day I still don't know how I got that luck. Anyway, great video J4.

Man, I remember seeing rows of clones in walmart and target back as a kid. This video is honestly a bit of a somber reminder of just how special these little toys can be for people. Edit: I have a group of around 10-15 Mega Construx Halo Spartans that I customized, which I will NEVER part with, similarly to how JC would keep certain clones of his in his backpack if he were homeless. These little plastic figures don't take much to make, but the real value of them comes down (at least in my opinion) to the memories we have associated with these figures

I never get tired of telling this story, but back in 2011 I traveled to Disney World, and at the Star Tours gift shop they had a crazy good assortment of Clone Wars, and they had Colt, and I was torn choosing between him and Wolffe, and for some reason I chose Wolffe thinking I would find Colt on the wild, only to never see him in person ever again lol. Thankfully on that trip I at least eventually got Defend Kamino, although some years later I lost Echo around the house and haven't found him ever since ;-;

I would always get a clone trooper every time I was able to go with my mom to Walmart, K-Mart, or Target. Out of all the awesome clones I got, my favorite was a Legacy Collection Clone that I decided to paint black and scratched some paint so that it would be some "spy" clone along with a sith robe and Jango Fett helme and a arsenal of gi joe guns. I stopped collecting in middle and high school. I started collecting again after my ex encouraged me to do so. Ever since then I have a awesome collection of black series figures. I'm starting to get back into the tvc scale of figures. Gotta say, even though Halo Infinite is kinda disappointing right now, their toy lines reminds of how Star Wars used to be in the toy department. I'm now collecting the characters, scales, and franchises I enjoy. Halo and Star Wars are my two favorites, I used to play Halo CE-Halo 3 with my older siblings and Star Wars has always been part of family gatherings. Whenever I look at my collection, I always think of my friends and family who enjoyed these franchises with me.

I am very sad that I could never experience what everyone did on like 2007-2011 where you could see every single clone trooper on the wall. Now a days you might get lucky to see a clone but usually just the stuff you don’t want. 4 years ago I bought phase 1 commander gree for 30 bucks now it’s like 70 on Amazon. Even if hasbro makes clones it would still be hard to get because there in so much hard demand and plus I don’t know where to get clones except Amazon or eBay. I don’t believe I would be able to get a clone but it’s brings me joy to watch jcc show all these clones and his every single… clone trooper ever. I hope I can get at least a phase 2 animated Cody which would be my dream. However, prices are going up and I’m losing my luck everyday.

I was on ebay once and I saw 5 jet trooper clone figures for $3,000. I was honestly about to give up on collection clones at that point.

Clones are just insanely in demand right now even LEGO ones to a point where LEGO can't even keep them in stock for months. Not a single company Hasbro or LEGO can keep up with the demand or make more. I recently started collecting vintage collection I don't plan on paying insanely high prices over retail for older stuff. The same goes with my gunpla and LEGO. Atleast with gunpla they'll do reprints. Here waiting for all the Graze's p-bandai to be reprinted.

It is crazy how much they go for just to collect figures as something to enjoy become something that costs more to enjoy.

I saw a Commander jet go on sale on Mercari for 70 dollars I checked back the next hour gone his trooper went up the next day for 40 dollars gone in 30 minutes just shows how sought after clones are and Hasbros just not making them in the 3.75" scale.

These are my fav types of YT vids the ones that feel homemade and personal. Telling a unique story and feeling genuine + relatable. While I don't watch every vid of yours I enjoy those that take me back on a nostalgia trip and hearing your experiences with the hobby how it's grown and changed over the years. My nostalgic childhood "burb" experience- I remember going to Toys R Us not being able to buy figures but still enjoying walking around and seeing endless rows of toys. Always dreaming about having this specific fig or that exclusive box set. Now more than anything I miss that feeling of not stressing like I needa pre order something, go toy hunting and or checking for the best looking fig. Collecting is fun but that blissful childhood ignorance was freeing. That's why I think some not all but some collectors go crazy for that specific "rare" fig to relive the nostalgia high or scratch that itch they've had since they was little. I miss seeing the shelves always full with toys only on Christmas it being empty. It's one of the reasons I CAN'T back collects and re pick up toys had had or wanted as a kid. Knowing that most regular figs cost around $10 to $15 and only the REALLY elaborate good ones went over $50. To now most of those "peg warmers" and "discount" figs go for at least double or triple at the very LEAST it's heartbreaking. Inflation is a bitch with modern collecting but I enjoy getting a new fig and experiencing something new than over paying and lying to myself that this was worth those memories. Tho the good thing about the internet is I can some what still experience figures I never had with YT, IG and FB post. People showing off their collection and telling how they got it, how they feel owning it, with the good and bad things about it now. Giving me a viewing and a 3rd person perspective on a toy I never had. It really is best to keep this hobby as a hobby and not let it overwhelm ya. Accepting you won't get every fig ya want is hard but it's nice knowing you can find a vid or post showing it off. But that's also half the fun is the hunt and feeling that satisfaction finding an elusive fig for retail. Ps wow long burb ramble

I have Jet (he leg warmed at my grocery store), the phase 2 shiny but all all broke except the one I pinted, Fordo (found at Walmart), Bly (got him for a deal with Wolf and Locke) and the ARC 4 pack off eBay for a hefty $147

Of the ones in this video, the only ones to ever see remakes in this scale were the arc commanders, fordo, and the 212th trooper. Everyone else hasn't had a remake in this scale as of May 2024. Genuine shame.

I am a IN BOX Collect from Anaheim California and let me tell you brother , I FINALLY GOT MY COMMANDER COLT for 139$ in Box ! I've seen him on Ebay loose figure for 200$ so when I found him in Box I just had too !

It's insane to me just how expensive these get, the only one I really want is the Fordo, I do plan on getting it at somepoint but man is $100 a lot. The fact that Hasbro didn't include the phase 2 pieces in the ARC Trooper re-release is criminal and I feel like it's very unlikely we'll ever see another fordo again. I'm personally trying to collect all 30th anniversary figures (single releases, not multipacks) and numbered TVC. It sucks that a lot of these are so expensive (thankfully most 30th figures aren't that expensive, TVC on the other hand....) but at the end of the day, they're worth however much people are willing to pay for them.

Wish they make more clones grew up OT but clones are my favorite with stormtroopers I’ve priced some of these and are on my wish list just wish hasbro would make the rest of the bad batch they would sell like hot cakes

There were Walmart arc troopers that were just on preorder, Havoc and Colt. I don't like those new molds, those guys are short, they should be taller

I think the most I’ve ever spent on a clone or Star Wars figure in general was €50 max and that’s just a guess like it might be less but I don’t like paying massive prices as I feel people take advantage of popular figures that people want it’s unfair but I guess that’s the world a lot of these figures are amazing but aren’t worth the price it’s crazy sorry for the semi rant but I completely agree with your opinion of not paying high prices

Those Kashyyk troopers were and are pretty rare. I never seen those in the wild, I can see those going for big money. That Biker scout helmet is perfectly proportioned. Hasbro needs to rerelease those. You're right, what you have on your table is almost a mortgage payment, should've bought more to pay off future rent, lol.

I have almost a thousand clone troopers. Walmart and Target was flooded with them and they were so easy to army build. a lot of these figs are expensive because they only made them once and it didn't last long. the arc trooper battle pack were created from prototypes before the episode was released. that's why they're inaccurate. it's almost equivalent to a misprint and the MISB battle pack goes for $700.

I'm pretty sure the original phase 2 clone troopers were around 5-6 bucks in 2011.

Besides Bogey Squad I have this whole list. Only paid 15 for Colt and first edition Fordo right after they came out on eBay. The clone wars 501st Jet trooper is the only time I spent more than expected paid $150 for clone wars sidious and jet trooper during Covid. Found another one with no jet pack for $50

I had that defense on kamino pack but I lost blitz and my dog ate fives and echo it was terrible luck hahhaha

I still plan to get the Routine Valor and Bogey Squad packs someday. They are towards the top of my list. I do have a lot of those you showed. Even you mentioned you aren't worried about collecting every clone now, I still hope you achieve that someday. You have come too far to not finish it.

I know they would likely end up being some kind of exclusives but I would love to see the arc troopers, Jet and Bly get black series figures at some point especially Bly if it means we could see him get a removable helmet like Captain Rex and Wolffe has. I know they wouldn't be for everyone but outside of the whole exclusivity thing they'd honestly be a better way to own versions of these characters cause who knows when we would even see them in the TVC line

Heh yeah I have most of these but they are…..shall we say….”battle damaged from years of play. Some were painted and customized (of course with the standard edgy black markings that were popular for a 13-14 or 15 year old to….fancy back then) others had parts lost and then replaced with other parts becoming entirely new characters. X3

Don’t repaint the yellowing plastic. Submerge it in hydrogen peroxide and put uv lightning around and let sit over night up to 24 hours Channel called OddTinkering does this to old toys and yellowed plastic to restore them

I think 🤔 it's kinda of cool to see some of these values. Hey look around at all the restaurants out there. People drop alot of money 💰 on a meal that last a couple hours of pleasure in the belly and then you crap out alot of $$ waste and it's gone. A star wars figure stays around for ever. Just like a vacation you drop insane amount and in a week it's done. Again a trooper is there everyday to give you a smile and atleast you can sell it later on and get something for it. Yes the prices can go UP and they can drop. But in the end it has value of a longer period of pleasure. The higher the price goes the funnier I have trying to hunt for a deal and it keeps it more alive I feel. If prices fell? I feel people like you and similar channels will not be around. I'm sorry I've been collecting Star wars figures for over 30 years. Idk who is telling you this, but you don't have any influence on the market. And I don't know where your shopping bro, but I've seen these figures sell for allot less on message boards amd mercari. I sell toys for a living. And like you said in your own video, they won't release these figures again with the animated accuracy. They will just keep getting more rare.
