Thanks. Wasn't anything fabulous, but hopefully it helped someone. After doing the video, I have to say the much more expensive Kronos was weaker than I expected. It wasn't bad...it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be in a direct comparison.
Yeah, if I was a much better organ player, I'd likely just get a Nord (Electro or stage) to gig with. I would say the more recent Nord organ's rotary effect is easily better than both the FA-06 and the Kronos, and possibly on par with my Ventilator pedal. Given the sound quality in the average gig venue, I was content playing live with the FA-06. The sound was good enough (for where and what I was playing...I don't actively "play" the drawbars usually), key action was ok, and the thing was/is fairly light for transport.
thanks for doing this....helpful....i currently gig with electro 4 HP and hammond is killer....but not digging the HP action so much....thoughts? and what is your name/where u at? thanks again
Thank-you. Yeah, I can't do organ with hammer-action keys too well. I had to once for a gig (using a borrowed controller), and it was NOT to my liking. Much prefer synth or semi-weighted for organ. I do think the rotary effect on the newer Nords is pretty great, and I'm pretty sure I would prefer it over both the FA-06 and the Kronos.
I think I slightly prefer the FA-06 of the two...it just sounded a bit more full-bodied to my ears. Couldn't easily judge which one is more realistically B3 sounding though.
