You mention Pilot's US Warranty... allow me to mega shout-out 🗣Pilot USA Customer Service for helping me out above and beyond, no questions asked. I've got a ton of Pilot pens at all price points and it's nice to know they'll hook me up if and when there's an issue. One particular issue was totally my fault and they still took care of me (at their expense!)

There is a way to fill this pen fully, and there are some RU-vid videos out there demoing the technique. You may want to try it. I'll try to explain here but a visual may be more helpful. Get your partial fill using the normal filling technique. Then, hold the pen upright with the nib pointing up. The air bubble in the ink chamber will be at the top. Carefully pull the piston until the ink rises to the top and the air bubble is gone. (You will squirt ink everywhere if you go too far.) Then, holding the piston in that exact, partially pulled-out position, flip the pen back over so it's nib down, dip in the ink bottle, and push the piston in again to get a full fill. This will be tricky in the darker model but works if you hold it up to the light so you can see the air bubble, and should be easy to do with the clear 823.

I wish you would do a nib comparison since f and m is a huge different …. I had to order both types to make up my mind. What also would help immensely would be a comparison to a reference fountain pen like sailor pro gear slim to see what all the differences in nib sizes are. Eg is mf in sailor the same like f in this pilot? ❤❤❤this would help immensely for future interested folks I think

Hi Sophie. Just an FYI, Pilot does make a FM nib. It fits right in between the fine and medium, which is my sweet spot. I have it in the Pilot Vanishing Point and the Pilot 742. You have to search around for that nib size, but it does exist.
