THE IDEA OF YOU
Based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name, The Idea of You centers on Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. When Solène must step in to chaperone her teenage daughter’s trip to the Coachella Music Festival after her ex bails at the last minute, she has a chance encounter with Hayes and there is an instant, undeniable spark. As they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn’t long before Hayes’ superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship, and Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for.

Boy band perfection. Clever, catchy, some nice vocal twists add great character. And nicely sung. What's not to like? Has HIT written all over it. Well sung, Mr Galitzine. Or rather, and so beautifully in character - Hayes Campbell!

As if mezmerized by the physical beauty so unusually and rarely combined with wit, intelligence, vocabulary and a very natural self deprecation. The word within the business is clearly out; this one is the real deal. And then Anne Hathaway makes the quote of the year: " Nicholas Galutzine could have chemistry with a lamp." Perfect!

Vocal acting in singing is just as important and relevant, especially in a role like this, as physical acting. This is very clever, character speciific, and rather deep work: recorded in Sweden with pop hit genius Savan Kotecha, who cowrites and does the background vocals. This is a specific vocal approach and style for the role. Comfort, which I love, is something different - Galitzine performing as himself. This is an actor acting to the nth degree. And should be heard and appreciated as what it is. A perfectionist digging deep and delivering the goods.
