Yeah, I have 4 classic suits with both skirts and pants purchased back in the 00s when I was working in consulting which are barely worn. I'll probably never wear them again except to job interviews or if I have to testify in court or something, but I'm not getting rid of them as long as they fit. Also, I have 3 cocktail dresses which I hardly ever wear, but again, I'm keeping them as long as they fit.

Ghoul, I feel your pain. I grew up poor so it's very difficult for me to edit my closet. I usually wear things until they fall apart and then try to sew them back together. It takes on average 10yrs for me to decide when I don't need something. I have clothes that are old enough to buy liquor. 🤣

I didn't grow up poor, but I've had some pretty rough periods of unemployment or underemployment. So I also tend to wear things until they have a hole or a stain that can't be removed. And I believe I have a sweater that's 17 years old! I live in a warm climate, so my winter clothes get a lot less wear than my summer clothes.

Thoughts on a closet declutter: Don't think about what looks good, focus on what consistently makes you feel happy and confident. I recently had to go through my closet and I realized while a lot of my clothes were professional and looked nice, I was no longer happy with them. So it's off to Goodwill and Buy Nothing groups, it benefits no one sitting in my closet and then making me feel "blah" every time I wear it.

Hey ghoul hey! I organize my closet from lights to darks and in categories from sleeveless to short sleeves to long sleeves. I also put my hangers backwards(hook facing out) and after i wear it i turn the hanger the right way. That way I can see what I never wear and decide why. Happy cleaning!🖤

I definitely understand having multiple styles! My vibe this spring has been more witchy, nature fairy vibes. During the fall, I go more towards an edgy, gothic style. It often changes with the seasons and just my mood, really. Different styles make it interesting, so I try to keep that in mind when going through my clothes and I ask myself if I will wear it during another time of year.

I have an 8 week old boy and an 8 year old girl. My alarm didn't go off this morning. My 8 year old didn't make her lunch for school last night. The baby for once slept so good that I wasn't woken up by him crying, so I didn't wake up until 30 minutes past my alarm. I scrambled around and managed to get the 8 year old off to school, came home, and realized the downstairs area is a mess. I wanted to cry. Then I saw you posted this video and it cheered me up so much. I love all your videos but ESPECIALLY the cleaning/organizing ones. Personally I love the look of fancily folded clothes, but find it impossible to upkeep and it all ends up in piles like your was at the beginning. Since last year I gave myself slack and just kind of stacked my clothes at approximately sectioned shelves (most of my clothes are hung up on hangers anyway which are easy to keep up with) and have found it so freeing and easier to maintain!

18:28 Jewelry-box idea: Get a wooden picture frame, remove the backing and glass, staple a somewhat stretchy fabric into the frame from the back, and attach heavy book-ends to the back of the frame for support. Most earrings should be easy enough to hook through the fabric. To attach necklaces to it, either sew some fishhook earring hooks directly onto the fabric or screw in some dollhouse-sized cabinetry knobs/handles (add a dab of fabric glue around the screw for strength). Another idea is to get a cookie cooling rack with small square holes in it and put L-brackets on the back. One last idea, you can mount a bobbin rack to some planks of wood. Obviously, make any adjustments needed to suit your aesthetic (i.e. black spray paint). These are just general ideas. Do whatever you see fit.

Hey ghoul hey, You’re cleaning/organizing videos are my favorite, I put them on when I’m cleaning multiple times. Just something i do: I keep a donation(/sell bin for you) in my closet for when i put something on and it’s got a stain or shrunk or i decided i hate it? I can just put it in there instead of it living in my keep stuff maybe it will help with decision making when you do a big clean out because it will be sorted already?

I have that same issue with the velvet hangers! I thought I was going nuts. All my black shirts and stuff has a line from the hanger that’s hard to get off. I got thin rubber hangers and they’re so much better and take up even LESS space than the velvet ones

I recently had to do a clean out due to damp/mould. It was really good to do. It took my a few days just working at one area at a time. Someone did give me a good tip about keeping you wardrobe smelling fresh. Put a few drops of your favourite essencial oil or scent on some pieces of chalk in a cup and put it in the wardrobe/drawer. When the scent fades just add some more scent/oil. Put it up high if you have kids or pets that might get into it

Wow, this was AMAZING! I need to clean out my closet too. It's much smaller. And thanks for the Neens cameo! If I can make a suggestion...you may want to institute a rule for some period of time of not buying new shoes or clothes unless something wears out and you're replacing it. This has helped me a lot with my clothes spending. It also helps me to remind myself "How many ___________ do I need anyway? I can only wear 1 at a time!" My addiction is plain white tops, so I really have to watch myself on those! I have to admit, I changed the playback speed to 75% because I'm a Southerner, and I'm used to people talking slower.

I have been in a "throw things away" mood. Its one that I hate and try to suppress but 10 mins in I had to pause your video and finally work through some of the boxes that haven't really been touched since we moved. I hate producing so much waste- but broken, unused items were finally thrown out of the closet in my office! and now I have a cosplay closet! Hey ghoul hey~ I think a good solution for the jewelry box would be to get one secondhand and paint it yourself if you don't like the color. you'd even be able to get two and have the match by painting them and you could see it in person when you buy it at a thrift store or antique shop.

I have multiple styles too. I flip between edge (leather, black, dark red lip colors, etc) and what I like to call Johanna Gains (white, cream, light wash jeans, tan, nude lip colors etc). But my gym wear is a whole new style. Black leggings and whatever shirts I think are cute. No color palette.

My jewlery box suggestion. Stackers, they're separate trays you can stack, so you can pick what you need for your jewlery needs, and they have many different colour options, and you can mix and match (black and white for example.)

There were actually some REALLY good tips in here. The motivating audio is a MUST, and I actually also use a timer for laundry folding, like it's a speed round or a gameshow race XD It's such a boring yet easy task but can be a drawn-out: it REALLY DOES NOT have to be if you don't dottle.

I can totally relate to having different styles and I also have a closet that needs to be edited often! I try to go through my whole closet every 3 months since I love buying new things but I refuse to buy more hangers. It totally keeps me honest about how many clothes I have and what I actually wear and I can still add new pieces without feeling guilty.

A good decluttering tip for a closet, hang everything in your closet backwards and in 6 months to a year if you haven't turned the hanger around then I guess it's time to get rid of it

hey jade! if you’re wisely trying to keep you wardrobe its current size without having to purge, there is a method called the one in, one out, and i find it works well for me. if you but a new piece, you have to get rid of a piece, like if you get a new shirt, you get rid of an old shirt, etc. i find it helps keep my closet size manageable while also making me think harder about something i’m gonna buy, if while i want it, the thought of getting rid of something else makes me debate the purchase, then i won’t get it. just a suggestion if you don’t like hardcore purging!

when i clean i go into a purge-mode kind of state and clean till i drop. the longest i've gone was from 8:30 am to literally 7:30 that night, not including the 20 mins or so of time i spent getting sodas and taking bathroom breaks

For a jewelry box, I am personally very visual, if I don't see it, it won't be worn and organizing can be hatd, so I choose sterilite with clear shelves and little baggies to hold sets together. I made each drawer a theme or color, you can pull the drawer out and see everything. It made my jewelry stress free so I could find and easily put it away.

For your jewelry maybe try the hanging jewelry/accessory organizers. It can hang on your closet rod & u can categorize each pocket how u want to and it’s usually double sided. U can buy it on Amazon or places like Ross or TJ maxx. I love it Bc it’s not a displayed mess it’s hidden away :)

Don’t know if you’re still in the market for a jewelry box but I bought the nicetree wall mounted mirror jewelry armoire from Amazon, (I bought brown but they have white!) and it’s been awesome! It has lights inside, places for bracelets, studs and dangle earrings, necklaces (even pockets to tuck long necklaces so they’re not hanging out or messy) and even shelves for other things! For jewelry get Stackers. It can grow with you. They’re available from the Container Store. IDK if they’re in Kansas City (I’m in NY) but look online. They’re also an online UK company. I know how you like to organize so you will love Stackers for that reason. I bought some for myself last year. Love! 🖤

I desperately need to go through my closet. I just bought some new items and it needs a declutter. I have half of a small walk in closet so it isn’t too overwhelming. 🖤 The trick with closets is maintaining the system you set up.
