people always value their tat more than its worth. theyd be better off selling it online or in a car boot sale so it can go and clog up someone else's house, best place for all that stuff is a skip

It could be that but carpet is a major investment and people keep it well after it is out of fashion because "it's good quality" or "it's the same Axminister the Queen has" etc etc.

There are levels to hoarding and in squalor. These are just not extremists. It is important to show these milder levels, to encourage people to recognise and deal with their own stuff, with leas overwhelm.

Seeing the Kirby vacuums reminds me of when I was a kid growing up in south Florida. A salesman came to our house and my parents stupidly bought a vacuum. The problem was, our house didn't have carpets. My mother kept that Kirby for years and it was so heavy she finally had to stop using it. This is after we moved to central Florida and the house had carpet.
