The Surefire absolutely a win in my book. I usually am a Fenix guy, I have been loving my TK20R since I got it. But I have other brands as well, Thrunite, Nitecore, Streamlight, Acebeam, and Nextorch. This EDC2-DFT was my first Surefire and it's now EDC/SD light. The beam and output on low is perfect for walking the dog, checking things around the house in a power shortage, ect. On high it's just jaw dropping for it's amount of pocketable candela output. I have more impressive throwers but there all 21700 cell, with much bigger bodies and no clip. The Surefire is lightweight, solid, pocket friendly and just a monster for stopping power. It has no problem punching through dark tint. I highly recommend this light.
I use that cloud as my duty light. It’s significantly better than the streamlights most guys use. If that surefire ever comes down to a reasonable price I’d love to get one, I could certainly use that extra candela to punch through the abundant amount of tinted windows we encounter.
@@MEATSAW2 I got a discount on it so it was closer to 200 but still felt like I was spending too much, with that said I don’t regret it, makes me think twice before using it as a door knocker like I would w some other brands
@@James-tp4nc I see various clamp on carbide teeth window breaker/ persuasion devices for the surefire series of lights. But none that are made for the cloud’s.
Brother. Your story and lights are nearly identical to mine. I own each of the ones you talked about. Cloud has given me two separate (free) duty mch’s and I also have a rein 3.0. They all flicker even after being sent back. Gonna grab the new turbo from surefire. I love the mch but I can’t use it on duty if it intermittently flickers when I need it most.
I got the same exact CD set up, and its been great. I carry it daily in shorts and pants. No issues at all. Love it. The beam and light spill is perfect. There was plenty of thought designed into the function of this light. It translates into an optimal overall usable light. Having tons of candela isn't always the right tool. This one is perfect. I've used SF all my career and am an SF fan as well.
Should check out the Cloud “MCH HC” it’s their high candela head for their MCH line and I think it’s around 70k so in between the duty and surefire EDC2 Turbo. Would be an interesting comparison
Same with mine. Works great then all of the sudden I get flickering. So I loosen the head and tailcap then crank everything down and it works properly again. Pretty weird since I didn't have to do this with any of my other lights.
I love the Cloud Defensive light, it has the best pocket clip of any light I’ve had and I’ve had plenty of surefires and even a modlite PLHV2. That being said I’ve had the same horrible flickering issues, they also sent me another tail cap that didn’t fix it then I sent it back to them and literally the day after I got the light back from them it was flickering again. Idk what the hell I’m going to do if this next time they’re not able to fix it. I would go for the surefire but their pocket clips are absolute trash.
@@DC-bk6ep they sent me a whole new light after trying to fix my original twice. The new one is working good. I’ll keep using it as long as it works but I wouldn’t recommend anyone else buy it given my experience and the experience of many other people I’ve seen online. Awesome design just doesn’t seem like they got it right.
