Best reviews on RU-vid, helped me decide to pick up an Elzetta (best of all my lights i've owned) and now I'm eyeballing the 21700 version of the Zebralight you reviewed, you really cover all the "soft" factors instead of just the hard stats which is often overlooked. keep up the great work man!
Nice to see you get ahold of some of the US-made throwers. Im a big SF fan, and the modlite stuff is nice too. But I have to admit that the Weltool LH1 has the nicest beam in this class. It's even better than the OKW.
I own two clouds, micro and full size mch hc and never experienced any flickering. Have run both with many different batteries. One interesting thing though, my full size came with a much warmer led. Micro was the ~6000k I expected but the full size is more in the 4000-4500k range. Definitely a nice surprise as I definitely prefer warmer lights. I almost think it ended up with the edc led by mistake. They both have the same beam profile otherwise.
Great video! Been waiting on a comparison between these US lights. I had nothing but issues with my cloud MCH also. Went back to modlite and had zero problems.
I sadly got the MCH-HC with no prior knowledge of the flickering issue lol. Haven’t had any issues yet, but I’ll definitely keep an eye out for anything that comes up. Currently using mine with a switchback. Also threw some goontape around the body to help with the grip issue Brand new out the box, I was not as impressed with the throw as I was initially hoping. I agree with your assessment in that it may not actually be 80k candela. I am a big SureFire fan, I have their M340DFT on a rifle and I am always impressed with the throw and run time. I just hope thyrm makes a new switchback to accommodate the EDC2-DFT ! Super interested in checking out the Modlite. I like the deep carry clip. Seems like a nice handheld for every day carry.
Owner of two clouds here and haven’t had any flickering either. Have run many different batteries and dropped one of them onto concrete from waist height one time. Have had for a few months.
Have you heard of Atibal AI-2? It’s been around for a few years but doesn’t have any videos online for it other than one RU-vidr. It’s rated at 700 lumens and 90,000 candela. I bought two of the light heads and they are amazing
@@jonathancaldentey4615 I would have guessed a CSLNM1, but I have yet to confirm. The small flat emitters are starting to blur together. Maybe @flashlightcrazy can ID it for us.
If I were about to spend that money on a light for the specific use these were designed for then I'd get the surefire. I'm pretty happy with what I currently have even though it lacks some of the capability of the surefire, but that is a nice light. I wouldn't consider the cloud at all and even the modlite doesn't have a particularly tremendous reputation for reliability that I would demand from a light at that price point. I think if it weren't for the social media tactical influencers pushing people towards cloud and modlite then nobody would be buying them.
@@caydengonzales5495 yea it is, but it's also much larger, has a more complicated UI and isn't built to the quality levels of the surefire. These lights are purpose built for serious, professional use (at least that's what the manufacturers claim); they're not hobbyist lights. For casual use any gee whiz bright light may be fine, and many manufacturers make those, but the use case here is different. The surefire isn't a thrower; it's a pocket sized tactical flashlight made to be used when lives may depend on it.
Been using midnight for the past 5 years . Still running strong .. modlites are tanks … I’ve dropped it countless times, been run over for a vehicle once, and used for 5 years scratched to my kit for work. I would say modlite is VERY reliable … just my experience! Also, the surefire are nice, but with 100k candela it’s honestly too much throw for a handheld. The modlites are much better for handhelds. Cloud defensive is garbage, I’ve have 2 and both failed in first few months.
@@callofduty60 modlite is hit or miss. For as many people who have good experiences, I've heard just as many bad ones. If you get a good one then great, but they still don't have the reputation of surefire.
No. They make some brighter lights, but not better for the purpose these lights are made for. Wuben is very low quality and shouldn't even be mentioned in the same conversation as any of the other lights.
