There was an NCIS television episode that used this as a plot point. They pointed out that computers aren't so good at generating truly random numbers (which is true). Long story short, the NCIS good guys needed to get past the lava lamp encryption so they could get past the governments own security to prevent a malware caused pending meltdown. A few chairs thrown at the lava lamps did the trick and the day was saved.
So, if someone wants to hack their systems, they just have to shine a laser to that camera to make it blind, then the random number function will (probably) put out one single key all the time.
