the "none-binary" is a good thing. As It been misused in caseous moment. Now we just see the word and a person and nothing more. No BS tiktok drama with clove. This --- deweaponizes the usage of the word in bad manner.
Okay, but their best voice line is still the one where Clove says, it is unlogical for everyone to pay for their own guns, because they are saving the world.
@@thewatergym9600 As a european, it isnt. As much as i would like more rep, this game is 4 years old and theres still only 1 agent from south america. We need rep from there more
I've been following the lore of valorant since episode 2 and there have been no proof that yoru can clone himself sure the writers can make this possible in the future but they haven't shown him do this once in anyone of the emails voicemails or lore cinematics
@@NothinglikeU-lq6ce i know, but his rework does exist in actual valorant lore, he just hasn’t showcased his new abilities in a cinematic yet - not sure why. what’s for certain is the “finding himself” did happen and was quite prominent as a fact during his rework.
8:30 also, clove has 2 dnd-related voicelines, one when she gets a kill saying "nat 20" and other at the start of a round saying "roll for initiative" she is 100% a dm
yessss whenever you play icebox has them, they enter by explaining icebox in such a DM way!!!! like how cold it is and roll for frostbite lol soooo cool
@@teaofwolf they have that for other maps as well, pretty sure Sunset is something about "your party steps foot on a barren concrete landscape" or something like that
it seriously is, it's so nice having the lore to bring extra life to the game without it affecting the actual gameplay. Really special to me having Clove because they look and act almost exactly like me, from dnd, to aesthetic, to playstyle, etc... I may have teared up as I got to know Clove more because of how much I felt seen by this one character, haven't ever had that before
i find it interesting that you mention it’s harder to leave the plane between life and death the longer that clove stays in it. it reminds me of how writers sometimes portray death situations where people can be revived. i feel like those snapshots of clove in the realm between life and death are trying to convince them to give up and move on in a sense. But clove decides to follow the beating line back to the realm of the living out of sheer willpower even if the snapshots are showing them how cruel life can be. maybe the longer they take to decide if they should follow the line, the dimmer and less pronounced the line gets. if they decide to not follow it at all they could be stuck as a specter forever because the line would completely disappear and they would be wandering aimlessly
i see my self in clove! hearing how astra's release affected you was heart warming! i love when devs succeed at representing cultures and aspects of the human tapestry!
I very much agree with you when you were taking about how people play characters/agents because of their representation. I was so happy when they added iso because he spoke mandarin, since sage never spoke any chinese. later on they added some chinese voicelines for her and that was awesome :)
A lowkey feel like Clove's background is meant to mirror Queer youth contemplating their existence and coming out the closet (which is why their crying in potentially their first moment in the zone since they did not know what to do) and why they keep coming back is they have people who support them which I like a lot.
I've been playing the game so much more with Clove. I see myself in them as I also am a trans nerdy neurodivergent queer. I've even been ranking up hard going from silver 3 to plat 1 just this past week! I love them so much 🤧
@@aetriusgx Its so nice to play a character you like a lot both gameplay wise and story wise! just makes the grind more enjoyable I agree. I remember when I was so into Harbor it was great and now with Gekko im like having fun win or lose but doing well.
I fucking love clove. Not just their play style but also their character also. They’re silly and goofy and hella witty and funny but their line with Reyna really showcases the depth of their character. They’re kind and compassionate but still lighthearted. Also their play style is my absolute favourite. Controller with duelist aspects. My mains used to be Reyna and viper both of which have since gotten nerfed so I’m happy there’s a new agent who came up to replace them which is quite literally the combination of both of them.
Ok, i really love Clove as a character. I still dont play them well but being the dm and making jokes of everything is so relatable to me. Being a dm means you need to be flexible and think on a spot, and i feel like in gamepley you have to constantly think what is best action to utilize their kit. And i just love the jokes all around, accualy chuckled at some when i first heard those. Clove supremacy for real 👑
Bro!!! So glad you’re still making content! I been a fan since SpellBreak (RIP) my favorite game. But that’s beside the point. You are awesome keep doing what you do! So proud of you
Short question. Does anyone know if there's a podcast or there that talks about Valorant lore? I'd like to listen to it while driving, but I can't find anything on Spotify. Thanks a lot in advance! ❤️
Butterflies are confirmed the “immortality essence” because the meddle ability is made of butterflies and butterflies fly out of it, shrinking the orb. My theory is that these butterflies are radivores and clove isn’t a radiant at all.
okay, one line they says is really really really weird though, when they kills another clove as the final kill they will say "we could have ruled this world together" in a very very serious tone, which is very out of charecter for them, and makes me think there is some different motive here
did you just put "intro to deadlock's lore" instead of "intro to clove's lore" at the first timestamp? i've just started the video and it is the first thing that i've noticed
Yeah I heard from others that certain languages don’t have the equivalent of neutral words . Makes sense. I think French is in a similar boat. At least I think so based on my few years learning it in school.
@@ThatNerdKaizen what happens with spanish is that with non binary genders is adding a "e" like a 3 gender conjugation. but it is very polemic so i can unserstand why they wont use that.
I already watched all the champions cinematics in the past and I do not remember him doing any of that in them Those cinematics are not lore too because in champions 2022 astra raze and chamber split themselves up and they do not have those powers also pro players are in them too unless you want to say yay is canon to chamber transforming haha
if clove immortal, and some of her voice lines suggest she’s really old, how did she become a radiant? the lines suggest that she’s older than the first light so… how???
not realllly? when fade asks about how she became immortal, she states it "all started when she was born" which is how most children of the first light(like phoenix & jett) came to be as radianite was found in their DNA, giving them strange properties. We know that she seemingly ages normally as there is a younger version of her in the junction between life and death, plus Sage seems to be like a wee bit older than phoenix and jett (could just be the fact she just sounds motherly and i kind of just imagine phoenix and jett around 19-21 years old with sage being like 23-25+)
I don't think there's any voice lines atm that states Clove's age. We can speculate though. Their search history of zombies and world oldest human being makes me think they got their ability recently because why would someone who has been immortal for so long care to search that up just now? Unless, they haven't been immortal for a long time. Just guessing tbh
just curious, where did you find their voiceline about Cypher and the journal, and the one about their door being stuck? i just started getting into valorant lore and have only watched what's on the official valorant yt channel so i'm a little behind 🤠 also love your statement on representation, that was very well stated!
9:51 I had a same experience too but with neon Im a Filipino and when I heard that neon was a Filipino I went absolute bat shit and I always loved hearing her voice lines because that is what we also say in the philippines!!!
@@Aries2Faeries there’s non-binary people who go by both traditional pronouns The videos shows Gekko’s voice actor being one of them Riot has not stated the official pronouns of clove so there’s a chance we don’t know it yet
@mistyfaderia everyone has pronouns , its just part of how english works and sometimes people like to representa themselves with ones they are more comfortable with. It's not about the character being nonbinary , it's for the players to have someone in game they can feel represented by. In the video it's talked about, and ill give my own example about how I feel represented by Reyna as she reminds me of people in my Family. It's just a game no need to be a snowflake about it.
My enby scottish ass crying because of the segment on Clove's gender. I loved the fact there was a non-binary character and the fact they were Scottish? Damn did I feel seen. I wish Clove was a bit more androgynous but mostly because the enby characters in video games always seem to be AFAB/born female and it comes off as "more digestible" than AMAB enby's. BUUuuuuuuuuuut - I love the fact we even get to see enby characters.
@@Sarahsqueak while Venture is androgynous that is not my issue. Both Clove and Venture are AFAB and while normally that's not an issue it is when 90% of enby characters are in fact AFAB in video games **because** it's "digestible". Or in other words, those that don't believe in our identities can just misgender them. Venture doesn't experience this as bad, but the voice? AFAB
@@greywarden1261 if you seriously want an enby character, then why do you care? none of them are even confirmed to be afab, and with venture looking more male, and sounding more effeminate (barely), i'd argue that is really good androgyny, your basis of them being afab is nothing more than just a guess, clove could be amab for all we know.
@@Sarahsqueak I care because *I'm* non-binary. Because I *have* AMAB non-binary friends. I'm AFAB. And Clove is the way they look so countries that don't believe in enby folks can write them off as an alt woman. On top of this, we don't have very many if any at all AMAB enby's and they DESERVE to be seen
@@greywarden1261 im an amab enby and have had people exactly like you assume that im afab. separating between afab and amab is exactly what separates us.
@@ThatNerdKaizen I'm delta, my mom is Igbo. I live in Lagos tho, so I'm very familiar with Yoruba peeps. Can't speak any native language tho 😂, just pidgin. And I hear Yoruba a bit
lol shoot man, I'll probably misgender clove by mistake too. Shoot, new players 3 months from now most likely will as well since riot doesn't have them listed for any of the agents ingame. I just don't want pronouns dividing the community especially since its so hard to know if you don't follow the lore or keep with valorant on X and reddit. So many gamers aren't on the internet 24/7.
