Hi, I love to follow you and your instructions are among the best. There is one thing I learned from my grandmothers (yes, I had two to teach me; sounds like hamony, but life can be soooo differnt from our ideas). They both casted on holding two needles in their right hands. So the knits are a bit wider and the first round is much easier to knit. Best regards, Claudia

Loving the first clue! I’m fat, so my legs and foot needs different sized socks. I usually knit short socks, so that I don’t need to think about it, but that’s obviously not an option for this pattern. Will it be possible to decrease stitches after the heel so that I can get a sock that fits both my leg and my foot?

This Isn't Ideal, But You Could Choose To Wait For The Full Clues To Come Out, Select Your Preferred Clue Sections, Knit A Shorter Sock & Pick A Size In Between So Your Foot And Ankle Are Both Comfy!? I Have Calves That Are Rapidly Larger Than My Ankle 😅 Tall Socks Usually Slide Down, But I'm Gonna Do These Anyways... My Husband Will Be Thrilled If I Can't Wear Them! 💜
@StarfireReborn
@StarfireReborn Год назад
I Just Read That Some People Do K2togs After A Section To Drop Down To The Next Size, Say 84sts To 72sts... To Get A Smaller Sock, From A Bigger Cuff. I Don't Know How Good This Will Work, But Maybe It's An Option For You.
@StephenWest
@StephenWest Год назад
You could knit the next leg section shorter so the leg isn't as long. Another option is to cast on a size larger for the cuff and leg and then when we decease stitches later before the foot, you could decrease more stitches to get a smaller foot circumference.

I am doing the small size with 60 stitches (30 stitches each needle) When trying to do the CABLES section, Rnd 1 I was left with 6 stitches after following the (P2k2) twice, C4B … each part from * to * uses 12 stitches-I did the repeat 2 times and then 6 stitches were left on Needle 1- My next stitches should have been K2 but the first stitches on Needle 2 are Purl stitches-Help please

Stephen, I've got a 10" cable sock set. Would it be better to use a 40" cable for magic loop or would the 10" Knitters Pride sock set be okay? I have both, as well as double pointed sock needles.
@StephenWest
@StephenWest Год назад
The 10” should work I think with the stitches stretched out a bit over that circumference. The magic loop may be more comfortable though. I love magic loop for hats and sweater sleeves but I found that DPNs are my favorite way to knit socks. I like the long DPNs and how they feel in my hands because I have larger hands.

Same here! I've tried this cast-on before with an inordinate amount of cursing - I guess it's still worthwhile trying to learn it, but at the same time, I've repeatedly replaced it with a long-tail cast-on without any problems really.

So I actually managed a German twisted cast on in the end - but, like msampersand7399, there was a good deal of -blood, sweat and tears,- correction, swearing, along the way. I decided that the twisted German cast on might be the brioche of cast-ons.

I have a question about "Weavin' Stephen" - are you careful not to cross the tail over the slip 2 WYIB, do you finish that weave-in during the knit stitches only?
@delilahdolittle1623
@delilahdolittle1623 Год назад
Are you a member of Ravelry? Your question might be answered faster over there - in the forum - many helpful knitters there. I think it is up to you - if you want to carry the end behind the slipped stitches and keep on weaving it in, or stop and snip off the remaining tail when you get to the slipped stitches. Also depends on how long the end is I suppose. This is just my opinion. I am not a professional knitter 😀
@andreamiller6200
@andreamiller6200 Год назад
@@delilahdolittle1623 I am on Ravelry (xraymd) and that is a capital idea! I just thought Stephen might have had a thought about it because of any possible show through behind the slipped stitches. I could always cut some of the tail shorter after having woven in, say 6 stitches, before getting to the slipped ones. Thank you!
@StephenWest
@StephenWest Год назад
I do the weavin' stephen cross after any knit stitches. I just let the yarn float along the back of the work when I slip stitches. Then, continue doing the weavin' stephen after the other knit stitches until I've done about 10 - 12 wraps.
