Watching this after Portugal lost to France in the quarterfinals lol. Portugal disappointed so hard this tournament it’s hard to put into words how bad they were in spite of reaching the final 8 teams. Outside Italy, no team showed how far they’ve fallen since their peak years in the 2000s and 2010s. That being said, all my respect to Ronaldo. The man has been at the top of world football since I was in high school and I turned 35 a few weeks ago. Holy moly that’s a long time to be at the pinnacle of anything, it’s even more impressive it’s such a difficult sport such as soccer.

I think you are right but even with a worse record and they still think they are hot sh!t and look down on other national teams. Some British pundit said they would beat the Dutch if they would meet in the semis simply because the Dutch never win anything. His colleague reminded him that the Dutch won euro '88 and that England hasn't won any euro......at least the Cowboys have the early nineties.....England has the 1966 (!!!) world cup......and have been living on that ever since. In all honesty the "premier league" gives the England fans and even the "experts" a biased view. It is considered the strongest league in the world but it isn't light years ahead of other (national) competitions. So they are playing against names they never heard of so they assume they must not be good or they would be playing in Engand. Football is also closer in scoreline and depends much more on clutch moments than other sports. So the "best" team in football doesn't always win and an upset is much more likely. In club football English teams have often been lucky in national team football on the other hand not so much.

The semifinals! Who would have guessed? England and the Netherlands should be a very good game. I don't know who is supposed to be favored, but it could go either way. And we've got France against Spain. Spain might be the favorites, but only because France is underachieving at the moment? I think? I could see any of the four in the final. That includes England. They can absolutely make this final. I see no reason why not, because I don't believe in curses. The Netherlands might beat them, I don't know, they're also a very good team. But England could do it, and so can France and Spain.
