How to use clutch control on a hill at a junction.
Are you a new driver struggling with how to approach uphill junctions in a manual car? Fear no more! In this video, we will guide you through the essential steps to confidently approach a junction on a hill.
Firstly, approaching the junction at a slower speed can make it easier for you to make the necessary adjustments. Secondly, using clutch control to creep forward and go if it's clear or stop if it isn't can make a huge difference. You don't have to stop if it's clear. It's all about mastering the technique and building your confidence.

@@WooxSB sorry I never saw this! It’s essentially what the others have already said! Conquer Driving has a rly good video on it and that’s what taught me, took me about a week playing around with it on the way to houses when I delivered for Dominos. Must’ve been a couple months till I felt I had a proper hang of it. Improvement since then and about a year now of always doing it? it feels fully mastered and is automatic in my head to get to any gear. I engine brake to slow down very often with downshifting smoothly and letting go, unless I need to come to a full stop I find it much better to get me to the right speed. Infinitely useful for if you’re about to go up a slope and need to go down gears, you can do it in advance And much better for engine and transmission All sound points above this comment so I won’t echo those

That’s the issue, when cars come in front of u, u have to stop for a while, then releasing clutch and brake makes the car go back instead of front, if we try to accelerate we have to remove right foot from brake which again makes the car go back

It's fun seeing people go backwards instead of forward while taking off on a steep slope as a Hilly Billy from the Himalayan Highlands we make fun of the tourists, I have seen people burn the clutch of their Toyota Fortuner SUVs because they were tourists and didn't know the accelerator pedal and clutch pedal trick - how to keep the balance between the two and car can stay stationery on a steep gradient without the use of brakes, secondly going dowhill using only gears to control the car and minimising the use of brakes....

Third is too high for the car to cope as you’re going up the hill. Even on a flat surface, as you slow down the car won’t be able to hand much lower than like 15/20 mph in 3rd
@farhan.882
@farhan.882 Год назад
That hill was way too steep and you should approach junctions slowly to be able to observe and continue efficiently and safely. For a flat junction this would usually be 2nd gear so on a steep hill like this 1st/ maybe 2nd would probably be ideal

@@Blank-pichak you misunderstood him, there’s certain situations you’d switch to gear 2 on before releasing clutch - including starting off a downhill, but otherwise doing that in most scenarios would not make sense.. could be dangerous. We have been plastered with a delightful mix of snow, rain, and ice over the last week. I only downshoft all the way to 1st gear if I need that stopping power and control in slick conditions. Engine braking/control is essential to me in slick conditions. Not just for braking but just in case I need to move out of the way of a car in front or behind me. Don't want to be caught off guard in neutral when a nearby car starts to lose control!
