Clutch Quit Working On Motorcycle. Went for a ride on my Suzuki Intruder 800 and the clutch was not working. In this video I show how I troubleshot the system and repaired the problem.
It’s 2023 , I’m not a mechanic , im 30 years old . I barely did my first self maintenance on my first bike . Honda vtr 1000 firestorm 1998 . And I was able to fix the problem I had on my bike. Thanks for teaching me how to bleed out the air on the clutch and changing the clutch lever fluid . I had the same issue my bike would turn off on first gear . But turn on neutral with no problem . Your video helped me a lot sir !! Thank you so much for that . Have a great day my friend !!
Thank you sir, this really made my day. I inherited a 87 shadow 700 and this solved the issue I was having with my front brake and clutch. I was about a day away from scraping the bike when I accidently found your video. It was my grandpa's bike and he left it to me and thanks to you the shadow lives to ride again. Thanks from South central L.A. sal & papá tanchi
I spent 3 days trying to troubleshoot my 2001 Suzuki Intruder 1400. You are the only video that shows what is wrong and gave an example. This solidified what path I needed to take. I fixed my bike and it shifts great again! Cost me the price of some brake fluid and some tubing. Way less expensive than going to a mechanic. Thank you!
Oh watched probably 30 videos. This is the only one that’s 100% help for. Thank you so much today is my birthday and all I want to do is ride my bike and because of you I’m able to do that. Thank you so much.
Wow!!! Same exact problem! I've been looking all over for an answer, and here you gave it to me. I looked in the reservoir, and was thinking... that fluid is filthy...but I didn't know if that would cause the problem. I'm going to fix it tomorrow. Thanks.
Fixed my problem! My 2002 Vulcan had been sitting for awhile so the clutch was super spongy and after squeezing maybe 50 times on a ride, it gave out completely and I had to time the traffic lights so I didn't stall out and have to get the bike moving by foot before slamming back in to first. Quite the game but I think i'm good now, thanks Bill!
Bill Thank you so much for this video my cousins 1400 was acting the same way we followed your repair guide and Bam he was able to cruise back home ! Appreciate The Video !
Bill Eaglerunner Would you have any tips for installing a new electrical harness? I'm trying to decide between putting it together myself or buying a pre made harness.
Exact bike and issue i just had i checked my fluids and found the rubber seal wasnt on correctly ill be doing the bleeding when i get home thank you for the video
Thanks so much for the video, I have the same Motorcycle and it was doing the same thing, Noting was working, I Tested the Kickstand Switch and That was not it,Then I rebuilt the Clutch Switch and that wasn't it, then I put new Dot 4 Fluid and Still No Dice Then I did What you Did and Bingo I Have a Bike Again, thanks so Much, Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year, am Sure I will, Lol.............
Got a 2000 myself, rebuilt the master on word that the previous owner said he had to bleed it every so often. A few days ago the clutch died, bled it ever so slightly and it would come right back. Ended up rebuilding the slave as well, was not leaking but I think it was pulling in air into it. Was a little over 20 bucks for everything but the body and the piston.
Hey see you have responded to many questions. Even though it is 2019 possibly you can tell me this. I've rebuilt both clutch and brake assemblies. Yet neither one of them will pump fluid down to the brake or the clutch. Even with the lines open. Nothing happens. Even after building them and pouring a bit of fluid in them to test, the cylinder seemed to have just as much suction as pressure when I engage it a dozen times. Shouldn't it be pushing the fluid? Not creating a suction when I have my finger over it? I've checked and rechecked things. Even took them back apart and installed the seals again to make sure they were positioned correctly. There was some tiny brass piece that came out of the brake reservoir. It looked like a tiny stopper. That would rise up and down when depressing the brake handle. I shot some air through it to make sure it was clean and the tiny piece went clear across the shop somewhere and now I cannot find it. Also, no diagram repair manual or video information talks about this tiny "stop". Hope you can help me with getting these two assemblies to pump correctly and work. Thanks.
just bought 04 intruder ....day 2 clutch went completely out ....dealer said bring it in 75 miles away via tow and they'll take a look ..... I'll use your suggestions instead thx
I have a sv1000 and the clutch was working and then it had no pressure at all so it would die in first gear everytime just like the one shown in this video what shall I do I bleed the clutch and cleaned the slave cylerder and nothing no pressure still I'm not sure what it is
I'm go na give this a shot..rode for about 20 miles yesterday, get back on later and I can shift into all gears but it won't go. As if it's in neutral still. Like I get enough clutch to change gears but not enough to engage in them.. 86 Shadow
Went through all this spent 2 days now trying to get my hydraulic clutch to build pressure back up even bought a new piston and seal rebuild kit and rebuilt the actuator cannot get pressure to push piston to disengage clutch
Bro i got same bike as this video i bleed my clutch alot twice a day it wont hold idk whats wrong and now my tire in back deflates its coming from 1 spoke idk what to do
Did everything in the video didnt work ordered new slave cylinder $85 and clutch friction plates $140 still jumps when put in gear with clutch held what am i over looking or doing wrong
Hello. What was the cause of this repair? What symptoms, before you did anything, I lost the power of the clutch. Have cleaned and refilled the brake fluid and vented the system. But there are no air bubbles in the return to the container on the handlebars ...
Quick question though. The master cylinder was really low. Where did the fluid go? If you don’t fix the root problem you’re just slapping a bandaid on it.
Sir. I have a Kawasaki 1600 Nomad. There is absolutely no way I have air in my lines. The bike was working fine, I changed the clutch fluid, every since then, I have no clutch. Believe me, I have been a mechanic for 30 years. There is no air in the line. I have replaced the bevel gear bearing, big job. I have rebuilt the clutch master cylinder. The clutch handle feels like it’s working good. But, still no clutch. I am really ready to throw the bike away. I have a ton of money in it. Nothing works. I mean nothing, because I have tried everything. Do you have a idea ? Thank you. This is like a slap in the face after I found out that I will loose my job after the first of the year. Because I won’t take the clot shot. This was my only out.
Jesse Sutton you’ve probably already figured out but in the reservoir you have to take a pin or really thin wire and clean out the fluid return hole in the bottom, if that doesn’t work try pulling your slave cylinder and make sure that it’s nice and smooth. Mine had a ring worn into it that wouldn’t allow the clutch to engage again.
@@brycereid7047 I fixed that I changed the pads and it still won't shift. I got the same pads that was in it and it still acts like its in neutral. Its pissing me off....lol
