Gorgeous pictures Owen, thanks for this, and all your other uploads. Hits a very personal note with me: paternal grandparents killed in the Blitz, my wee Auntie workin 40 years in Singer, my wee flat, couple of closes to the right of the Library, my view of the Clyde and the crane... Emotional my friend, emotional... 👍

When Clydebank was once a great town. I was born in 1984 and raised in Montrose Street from '85-'92 and those were great childhood memories of going to the Megabowl on Livingstone street, the Playdrome and the great atmosphere of the old shopping centre. Shame it's all gone now. Almost brings a tear to my eye to see how bad the town is now. My family have lived in our current home in Radnor park since December 1992 and so much has changed.

That’s a fine collection of photographs Owen and a very touching montage you’ve put together. Respect to you for capturing such meaningful history with a hint of artistic flair. Thank you.

Really excellent record and photographs of Clydebank. I served my time in Brown's first as an apprentice Plater before finishing up in the drawing office. Tom McKendrick served his time as a Loftsman before leaving for The Glasgow School of Art. During this time there was another apprentice in the plating department, and I cannot remeber his name, photographed all the goings on during the occupation of the Yard. He even had a shoulder support for his telephoto lens. Wish I had remained friends as I could have bought and before you hit the main gate, I was knocked out there once and spent a couple of days in hospital with a concussion I played for Clydebank Strollers for a while and then moved to The Hub, the rival team in Clydebank. At the time of the occupation I was one of the reps from the Drawing Office for the Comittee and met Jimmy Reid et al daily, quite an experience now that I think back. I have one or two photos from my time there before I left for Canada in 1973 and should have bought a camera and recorded the events. Thanks for sharingRegardsCharlie

+scotrail1 What great experiences you have had. I met Tom a few years ago when he was constructing the Beardmore Sculpture. There is a short video of it on You tube. I am always looking for old photos for my website called My Clydebank Photos. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I am recovering from a flue virus which floored me for three weeks. Best regards, Owen

Beautiful pictures Owen. I love looking at what our wee clydebank used to look like and how much it has changed. I remember sculptures in the shopping centre maybe round about where the poundshops are now, always climbed them, always fell from them 😂

Thank you for sharing these. I walked the old railway line last week. Clydebank and Dalmuir are desolate now. It was both eerie and tragic to see.

1:47 I remember making the digits for that clock the clock was made by Merson signs of East Kilbride but we made the numerical digits in Robert Tate signs in St Andrews Sq Glasgow , They were 12mm neon tubing and a right fiddly buggers to make oh happy days ha ha and if I remember a first in Scotland no one had ever attempted them before it was just like a big digital Casio watch

Thanks, 'Brighter Homes' is my most famous photo as it was on 'That's Life' TV program in 1979 and upset the local paper at the time.

+Samthebam4044 It's by Kevin MacLeod, but for the life of me, I can't remember what its called. Kevin writes royalty free music for anyone to use on their projects.

I would have watched all of this and, passed i on if it wasn`t for your choice of music - so dreary !

I think the music suits the video well considering that Clydebank is now dead on it's feet! The Titan Crane should be pulled-down...it's nothing more than an eyesore rather than a tourist attraction...no point in trying to flog a dead horse!
