Il ciao mamma di Alberto mi ha sciolto il cuore, sempre bello vedere che dietro a ottimi progetti ci stanno giovani menti italiane. Grande Alberto continua a fare grandi cose🫶🏻🙌🏻
Since a longer time I've been searching for a good mic that provides a line signal output. I've immediately read in the online manual if the CM-15 has a line signal output and yes it has. I can connect the CM-15 to various samplers or eurorack modules without needing a preamp or a mixing board. For me that's fantastic.
Despite this being out of my budget range, I like how the field series gradually grows into a complete ecosystem. I imagine headphones or speakers are in the pipeline as well. Maybe even a drum machine?
@@billypilgrim1 I figured it must... because I just bought the original recently haha... but just getting the hang of it and I would buy an improved version in a second... I am a bit late to the table on TE products but they are quite fun to use... TE speaks in Berlin next month... I feel maybe they will announce it once they sell most of their current OPZ stock... I noticed it just went out of stock on their website recently but who knows... All hypothetical and rumor so far... I work in tech but more on the film and animation side of it so I don't hear about as much in the audio department... but people seem to keep mentioning the OP-Z field or whatever they decide to call it if or when it is announced...
@@iamYork_ I think that considering the demand for it and how well it would fit within the Field series, it's a no brainer. Let's just hope they don't up the price too much...
@@billypilgrim1 TE is known for its boutique prices though... As long as this one doesn't smile at me when i pick it up and the back cover stays on after being less than two months old ill be happy haha... I feel they have paused on the digital portion of the app for the op-z it has so much potential... I guess the future will tell... My credit cards are already sweating thinking about it haha
A $1200 product that gives you the results you could get with an everyday phone. Listen guys, I know in terms of reputation, becoming a luxury brand sounds enticing but in reality you will only be alienating the target demographic you are trying to sell too... and thats musicians. A target demographic that tends to find themselves making other people rich (especially the companies they work for or purchase from) but aren't rich themselves. Basic economics tells you that the more accessible an item the more you will see in sales meaning the average luxury brand sales wishes they could see the profits made by a company that makes its products affordable to everyone... I genuinely love the engineers at Teenage engineering but to see them be used to sell hype merch... is disappointing.
Really love the design here. TE always knocks it out of the park in that regard. As an owner of both the OP-1F and the TX-6 and would LOVE to have this, but the price is eye-watering and a really hard sell for me with so many other great, mostly comparable options available for a fraction of this cost 😬
@@estefanoandres yea man! Bear in mind I said "mostly comparable", so they might not be a spec for spec match, but you could literally buy both of the mics I'm suggesting and still have money left over compared to CM-15. The Tula mic is the one that came to mind first when I saw this. It's a dual capsule design with USB C, battery powered, and can take a micro SD for onboard recording. Next is the Zoom H2n which has 4 or 5 different mics, switchable capture modes, and can do omnidirectional recording. It can also function as an interface, runs on batteries or plugged in, and has micro SD as well. I have one personally and it sounds fantastic. There are plenty of others as well, but those two immediately came to mind. Both of them are at or under $250 USD too. I love TE, I really do, but this one was a swing and a miss imo.
What is the sensitivity of this microphone? 14db noise for LDC - it's not that noisy, but not good enough for quiet recordings... Is your voice recorded on this mic at this video? if yes, then it sounds like a cheap condenser microphone. USB SNR dBA FS: 120 dB - that's very noisy preamp. Even old cheap zoom h4 has better noise floor in it's mic pre's. Is there any windscreen included? how to use it in the field without it? does it have some kind of suspension for catch a vibrations? Who is this microphone for? portability? There are many small microphones on the market. If you have $1200 you can afford a portable recorder and 2 condenser SDC mics and that will sound better and give more features and functions) I'd rather buy any of the dozens of excellent microphone models for that kind of money. Schoeps CMC1 mk41 costs 1.4-1.5k, sennheiser mkh8050 costs 1.3k. Line audio cm4 - 120 eur. Oh boooy..... Guys, I'm really impressed with your marketing talent. You can even sell a donut hole. I would buy something like this for less than $250 like other cheap/mid range usb mics.
please make one device that combines the opz and op1 field with a great mic and mini daw built in for 1000-1500, you would be kabillionaires, focusing on one thing really well that tons of people will enjoy
I got an OP-1 Field a week ago and funnily enough I was wishing I had a portable external mic to create samples closer to studio quality. I'm not sure if I'd buy this straight away but I think the products in the field eco-system have the unique selling point of being portable and tightly integrated. I'm really looking forward to what else is going to come out of this line.
@@kellymerrill5294 Status? Who’s giving them status, most people don’t see our gear. Maybe they just like the product. I have my own issues with TE but as a former owner of a a OP-1 Field I will say it’s easily one of the most beautiful and inspiring devices I’ve ever owned. A bit dogmatic though and that’s my issue with TE… they definitely have some crippling aspects baked into each device.
I haven't bought or used any TE products yet, but I have to say the must be one of the nicest branded/design companies in the world. Products and website are nothing short of gorgeous, top tier design and material quality, and functional. Alberto's personality fits exactly what I'd expect. You guys set the bar high!
Nice design, but I struggle to see the purpose of this device. The kickstand and limited gain settings (presumably in USB) are not suitable for anything other than basic recordings for people who have more money than sense. I also don't see a way to easily put this in a shock mount. And it's design is wide enough that it might obstruct someone's view. For $1200? Damn.
@@NamuSenpai Would be nice to have a mic shootout. You can get a Neumann U87 clone for around $700. Would be interesting whether this TE mic comes in at the level of a Behringer.
Literally all of their products you can do better with any number of smarter, better designed, and more understandably priced alternatives in terms of value.
@@kellymerrill5294 you really don’t like this mic huh? To the point where you’re jumping to conclusions about people? For once TE is entering a product category with much MUCH more expensive options out there. If the sound quality holds up, and if it’s competing with Neumann and the likes, this is actually challenging the industry a bit. I’d say it’s very promising. Very interested in taking a detailed look at this mic to see what it feels like with my voice and my instruments.
@@truecuckoo this is funny to read. They have already lost to big brands from pro-audio without even entering into competition with them. It is audible and visible immediately. The price of the product is formed by many factors but not because "hipsters will buy it anyway." TE went exactly that way.
I just got this, and it is dope, but I’m finding the gain settings all really weak. Even on the highest gain setting with medium distance, the sound is still so faint. Something won’t with my unit or this is expected?
The design is gorgeous and compact - haven't seen anything quite like it. Are there any other non-speaking demos of it? That would be the determining factor. Sounds pretty good for normal voice-over work if the audio from this intro was recorded with it.
thanks it was indeed. the recording microphone is the CM-15 ,standing on the table in the video, connected as an audio interface to the computer used to record.
I think you should look a little harder there are loads of good cheap compact microphones around and most cost far less than half of what this costs. And most are far better looking...
@@morlidor Sorry, what I meant by "I haven't seen anything quite like it" was more about the actual appearance - the closest thing I've seen to this particular aesthetic is maybe the Tula mic (which folks seem to like), but I can see why the look of this could be polarizing. That being said, I'm not super familiar with the world of microphones 😅But you're right - even with my limited exposure to them, I know there are a _ton_ of awesome affordable microphones out there now. And, once you add things compression, expansion, and de-essing into the audio pipeline, many of them can even compete with far more expensive microphones. Are there any ones in particular that you especially like?
@@alex-r-t OK! AKG Lyra for around a tenth of the price of TEs mic and probably wiorks better on many recordings as it has switchable polar patterns. Apogees hypemic costs around one third of TEs and is of a very high quality..
Ciau Alberto. When can we expect to get the tripod and a mic clamp that doesnt make the mic fall over every time you try to set it up? And question: Shockmount anyone? Thxxx
@@morlidor OMG yes!!!!!! Thank you! "A grand for this is a great Joke!" That's a perfect start- here, let me do the other ones for you: What are they smoking? They sure are teenagers! They must think we are stupid! Anyone who buys this has too much money! Other microphones can do the same for less money! TE are the Apple of music gear! I wish they made more things like the Pocket Operators because those were cool and cheap! Is this April Fools Day? Teenage Engineering are a parody of themselves now! I am never buying another TE product again! Who is this product for anyway? .... hmmm, I'm sure I'm missing a few, but those are all the other great funny jokes I could think of for now!
This looks interesting, but I've been using a pair of MIKME Gold's for years - great portable mics made by some ex-AKG guys. It would take a lot to make me switch.
Super sleek design to fit my mixer and my OP1F. . . . I only need to find a purpose. could this record ambient sounds ? more towards signing and close loud recordings.
What do you mean by record ambient sounds? There are plenty of mics that have low noise, filters, boost the signal that cost under $200 and likely are indiscernible from this mic.
Howdy I am thinking of playing live with only op1 field..but I am considering buying the tx-6. Will the new TE CM-15 be able to pug directly into the tx-6? Or do I need a dynamic mic? I plan on talking and or screaming…distortion, delay, reverb.
I love the design and engineering of this mic but I already have a Tula Mic which i imagine is the inspiration of this mic. I just wish it had onboard fx like compressor, noise gate, reverb, chorus. Having fx would make it stand out more than the Tula mic
But what makes this better than Critter & Guitari's microphone, which is $80 and can do many of the same things lest analogue output and USB connectivity?
Teenage engineering never gets into anything technical in their reviews. Freq response? SPL levels? Oh you just want me to open up my wallet for the good vibes? ok
It's funny how a designer company like T.E. profiles itself as a manufacturer of high quality audio gear . NONe of T.E. engineering stuf is hq audio but they still charge a premium price , simply because that's what a design firm does . LMAO
It looks like the headphone out is extremely close to the mini xlr cable... Does that stop a lot of headphones from fitting when trying to connect both at the same time?
