The CM Shredders Multi-Stack knife system is a revolutionary technology available across all CM tire and chip shredders. This system significantly reduces operational costs by addressing the primary expense in shredding operations: the cost of knives and the associated expenses of knife changes.
With the innovative Multi-Stack knife technology, operators can sharpen and reuse knives up to three times within the system for cuts under two inches. This reuse capability dramatically lowers the cost of processing materials, particularly tires, compared to traditional shredders that use one-piece hook and shear blades.
Our patented Multi-Stack technology also achieves some of the closest knife-to-knife tolerances in the industry-up to one-thousandth of an inch. This precision allows the shredder to produce exceptionally clean-cut chips with minimal exposure of steel or wires, creating an ideal product for TDF (Tire Derived Fuel) or TDA (Tire Derived Aggregate) buyers who demand high-quality fuel chips.
The standard CM Multi-Stack knife system for TDF includes three different knife sizes, color-coded for easy identification and use:
The middle, purple section utilizes 2.2-inch wide blades, which endure the most wear.
The orange section contains 2.0-inch wide blades.
The blue section features 1.8-inch wide blades.
The knife rotation process is designed for maximum efficiency and resource conservation. Once the purple 2.2-inch knives wear down, they are resharpened to 2.0 inches and moved to the orange slot. Simultaneously, the worn 2.0-inch orange knives are sharpened down to 1.8 inches and relocated to the blue section. This process allows each knife to be reused up to three times, reducing waste and further enhancing cost efficiency.
By integrating the Multi-Stack knife system, CM Shredders provides an innovative solution that not only enhances performance but also supports sustainable operational practices.
