Were small, really small. I know it might hurt. But i think govt pay outs benefit the large corporate farm s. Id rather see something like no death taxes or property taxes based on what you paid , be it you or your grandpa.
Direct payment will just go to the old money in the city who owns the land with higher rent payments. Land prices need to come down or say goodbye to family farms.
They are saying .75 here in southwest Ohio. No measurable rain here since hurricane. Since the trade was not concerned with US drought I dont put much hope in a rally if SA gets dry as well.
If you didnt have the bushels, the farm act would certainly be welcome. maybe the middle ground would be another ERP for those who ended up with horrible bushels
“It’s going to rain.. just a question of amounts and totals..”. Yal no kidding.. we’ve had “rain” just not enough to make up for usage and depletion from 3 days of 30+ mph winds.. with Cheney lake down 7 feet.. it’s estimated that it could take..?? A lot.. like 9 to 12 inches sustained over several months to change things. A 2019 type year.. for “awhile” some streams which I’ve never seen dry.. are not flowing. Elwynn Taylor has compared 2025 to 1936.. uhm.. so far.. “could be I guess..”. Notes that it could come early or late.. but.. feels like we’re in the midst of a 1930s or 1950s type dry. We had fires yesterday.. and we still need enough to get the HRW Wheat emerged.. then more to grow with.. 3 years of drought.. 1 “rain” ain’t gonna fix Jack.. Say we get 2”.. I don’t believe we’ve had a single event of 2” since..?? Before 2022.. yeah.. only need like 5 more of those.. a 2” rain might settle the dust.. we’re forecast to get 0.25 to 0.50”. Basically a heavy misting.. worthless. Did I mention that it’s really dry?
You like low commodity prices, don't you? Rain is no good. Think about it farmers make more money in a drought than they do if it fucking rains all the time
