Love him so much!!! In 76 I was in a bad motorcycle wreck and would have died if there hadn't been a doctor playing tennis a block away. A friend brought me the album Teaser in the hospital and I was blown away when I finally got to listen to it. He is the biggest influence in my playing, then Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix. Had no idea it was the first night of the Jeff Beck tour. I almost died when he died I feel like part of him is in me. I channel him when I'm doing solos but I also channel other great guitarists but I don't necessarily steal their riffs I just think of them. The biggest loss in rock/ fusion history as far as I'm concerned.
His brother Rick and I did a trade back in 1977. He loved my Vox wah wah pedal and asked if I would like to trade it for Tommy's first microphone he ever had. I said "Yep".. I still have that microphone today.
Great video ! Tommy also played on drummer Alphonse Mouzon's album Mind Transplant. Everybody should check out the song Golden Rainbows of that LP. I'm from Sioux City IA and have been a Tommy Bolin fan since the 70's. Gone too soon !
Tommy changed the guitar world indeed. I saw him with Deep Purple in OKC on the Come Taste the Band tour and it was incredible. Thanks for posting this!
i was in attendance of Tommy's last show, opening for Jeff Beck in 1976. i went to see Beck, but also enjoyed the Private Eyes album and looked forward to seeing him play. well Tommy was great, but Beck was awful. totally uninspired. i woke up the next morning shocked to learn that Tommy had died in a hotel room at the Newport Hotel right on the water in Sunny Isles Beach. R.I.P. Tommy Bolin. you will be forever missed.
It's very interesting to me that Tommy was at the Elvis Presley concert in Sioux City. I was there too (kind of)! My mother went to that show when she was pregnant with me. I couldn't see anything but I could hear everything. I truly believe that this experience contributed to my lifelong obsession with music.

Same, I'll never forget a American friend of mine rung me the day he died. I remeber being stunded for a few hours then becoming so effing angry that he's denied me the joy of buying further album releases and oppertunities of seeing him live (I live in the UK) I got over that pretty quick, Thank god there was such a treasure trove of unreleased material and all of his recorded work sounds as fresh as a daisy, its never dated.
You are right. Bolin left a vast engraved treasure. It is a ruge emotion to known a new piece of this treasure that comes to light these days. This music is party of my story. 👍😎✌️🇧🇷

Tommy Bolin had a impact that was so great, I believe more and more people are getting turned on to his music, and will continue to Forever! Love the Bolin Family Always.
The James Gang didn’t break up and Tommy was not their lead singer..... He did not replace Walsh either. He replaced Dominic Trojiano in the James Gang. Roy Kenner vocalist and Jimmy Fox snd Dale Peters were already in the James Gang when Tommy joined for 2 albums. He split to attempt getting Energy back together
All true, but it just didn't work, kenner was a horrible front man and singer, and Tommy just didn't fit with the James Gang, in my opinion both those records were disappointing
I'll just add this for Tommy Bolin fans, this book, (Die hard fans like myself will not learn much they don't already know) Still its a collecters item I found it via ebay..."Tommy Bolin - In and Out of Deep Purple by Laura Shenton"
I wonder who responcable for those first two album covers. Covers like that dont sell for shit. Once decided records left misguided landmind forgot explodes divided
