I took my mother to see Loretta in concert at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, Mass in 1982.My mother idolized her.She looked right at my mother and smiled.I will never forget the look on my mother's face- pure joy. My mother died 6 years later from brain cancer at age 59.I am 65 now, but that memory of Loretta smiling at her- I will never forget.
I am also a coal miners daughter. You can never explain how you look at your father who goes miles under a mountain to dig coal so his family can eat and have as much as he can give them.ther us a bond that only coal miners children of my time can understand. I loved my father and respect the fact that his life meant nothing without us he was a great man to me .love always. Sherry hall
Mrs. Terry Hall I can't Express how much I understand what you are saying and telling my mama is also coal miners daugther , my mama was raised in west Virginia with her brother. My mama has told me and my sister and brothers so many story's of her growing up in the hills of West Virginia with my grandfather and yes me and my sister with our brothers are grandchildren of a coal miner . My granddad used to love sign and record himself too and my mama has those Recording desk. She loved her father fiercely . Also my brother 3 oldest looks just like my granddad.
Terry Hall Loretta grew up in a time when coal miners were nothing but equipment and paid $1 a day in scrip. The same thing happened in 1920 with the Matewan incident, per 1987 movie. So sad, those hardworking folks deserved a lot better! Yet look at what union workers being paid $40 an hour complain about today! They just look at their jobs as golden handcuffs!
I saw Loretta in concert a few years ago. Unlike rock concerts, the crowd was seated and almost in awe, like they were in church. Such a class act, and a sweet, hugely talented lady. She IS the Queen!
Im just a dude from little town in Canada, listen to music steady and Loretta is by far the most talented female artist the entire world has ever seen in my humble opinion

@@smblaze928 I got lucky to have been selected to work as an Extra in the Movie: "Coal Miners Daughter" I love her and Sissy Spacek too. In 1970 I was just a young woman ( wow! that was 41 years ago )
Best country singer of all time. Class act on and off stage. Met her at truckstop in Wythville Va. Fueling up the Coal Miners Daughter bus. My favorite country singer.
Loretta Lynn was the best female country singer of all time. And Coal Miners Daughter is one of my favorite movies, and no lie, i have watched it over 50 times already. Thank you for this 5 part memories of Loretta Lynn.❤❤
Through the hardships and the good times, and all of the in between this is what a MARRIAGE is. It’s work. People this day and time can’t seem to stay in marriages like these two did. Loretta is a special person. I really enjoyed the documentary. Take care
I am your biggest fans from Indonesia, Ms. Lorreta.. I love your beautiful songs and sing them every afternoon through my karaoke set. And I feel so wonderfully great... thank you Ms. Lorreta.
My parents had that love. Sweeter and peaceful but that deep. Mama wouldn't stop the fight to keep breathing, even after she couldn't move, we were having to suck the back plem out if her throat, her extremities turning black, all 6 of us kids who were there told her fir hours that it's ok, you dont have to do this anymore, then my Daddy got on their bed with her and after not a movement or eye twitch in 4 hours at least, she turned her head and looked at him and he whispered in her ear she didnt have to fight any more, she took her last breath. 3 tears later after daddy had fulfilled his promise to make sure we were all gonna be okay he stopped taking his heart medicine and signed his own DNR, he was in the hospital for about a week couldnt talk any more or anything, when he took his last breath he suddenly has the biggest, sweetest smile on his face, we knew not only had he seen his lord and savior, we had been seeing Angels all day, he saw Mama. Ge had purposely stopped his medication because he loved and missed her so very much. I know how he felt now. I am a widow but don't have the choice he did. I'm still here because my youngest grandson needs me to take care if him because his parents can't right now. My heart hurts every day and I cry every morning before I put my feet on the floor to do another day without him. I know that sounds weak, but after I cry a little, I get up and just do it, like my Mama said way before Nike ever thought about even making shoes. Well I'm done.
I'm a rocker who loves Loretta Lynn. She's radical, but in a good humored way. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. My father was a huge country music fan, turned me on to Loretta, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard. I think it's a blessing when you get exposed to different kinds of music when you are young. My mother likes jazz and opera. I couldn't stand opera as a kid, love it now. Thanks Mom and Dad.
Just love Loretta Lynn she is one of a kind no doubt. Cried when she was singing for Doo love it that is what her music does. One of a kind may God Bless & keep you.
I cried when she sang that song to her husband. Still crying as I write. They really loved each other. No matter what problems they had love won out. I felt the same about my husband.
Loretta Lynn’s integrity, talent, humour and heart make her just priceless 👍🏼. I’d be a very happy person if I could see her sing live one day! Love from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 Chaq xx
I have enjoyed these videos so much. Loretta Lynn has been one of my favorites for many years. She is definitely unique and one of the very best Country Singers. I wish her well in everything she does in the future. I’m only a few years younger than she is and I have seen her on stage many times as I have lived in the Nashville area for over 60 years.
Loretta, YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN INSIDE & OUT! My Aunt's are from Blackwater VA, (my Dad too) they all moved to Indiana probably in the late 40's or early 50's.I remember my two Aunt's getting ready to go to the theater to see "Coal Miners Daughter," their Daddy, my Papaw worked in the coalmines and my Grandma had 10 kids to raise & my Papaw wasn't home very much, he was like Due(excuse me if I misspelled his name) My Aunt's relived their lives through you & the movie. They would talk of the times back in Blackwater and end it with saying Mommie and Daddy Loved one another to the end. My Aunt's are also are your age or a year or two older. I just want to say Thank you for the Beautiful Songs ❤️ & Being You!
I met Mooney in the summer of '86 at hurricane mills. I had demoed some songs that only Loretta could sing. Mooney was kind enough to listen to my songs. He said if he were still managing her business she would be singing those songs. One song was titled Daddy and Doo. He really liked that one. So glad I got a chance to meet him...what a compliment!!!

I feel in love with her as a child in the 60's and I love her more today than yesterday and I'm sure not as much as I will tomorrow. The simple innocent girl next door that in her own way took on the world. And became the classiest most revered, respected and admired woman in the history one country music. The whole world finally sees her as I have always seen her. A Queen and what is there not to love about Loretta Lynn .
I discovered Loretta in the late 70s. I have spoken with her about 5 times over the years, the first time in California. It was a thrill to see the movie and collect her autographs as well.
been listening to this fine artist/woman my whole life (62y) I can’t think of a performer I respect more. She is quite a star in many different aspects professionally, and personally. I imagine when she is a friend to you she is a lifer. It must have been a brutal blow to be forced to sue he friends for professional freedom😔. But.....what a lady!💜
I will always love Loretta Lynn's music she sing from her heart and true love for her family and her Doo Little God Bless her and her family love Loretta Lynn your a star from heaven
Loretta Lynn was my favorite idol since 1970, still is today few time saw in 1980s and singing her classic hits songs and few of Pasty Cline songs ,which I bought cd box collection. TEARS,AND I CAN'T HARDLY SEE TO TEXT,BUT LOVING SOMEONE LIKE YOUR SWEETHEART LIKE LORETTA AND I DID IS ALL CONSUMING WHEN YOU WATCH THEM TRY WALKING THRU THE HOUSE AND LOOK HOLLOW EYED AND SKINNY,BUT THE MAN YOU'VE LOVED FOR FOURTEY YEARS IS STILL IN THAT SHELL,AND THE LOVE NEVER GOES AWAY..BLESSED TO HAVE KNOWN SUCH LOVE.MY SWEETHEART AND LOVE OF MY LIFE HAS BEEN GONE FOR OVER SEVENTEEN YEARS,I WAS SIXTEEN AND HE WAS EIGHTEEN.AS KID'S WE WERE .LOVE IS PRECIOUS.
I had to watch all 5 Lorettas from my home state. She was always a voice in our house when I was growing up from records to 8 track tapes to cassettes and the Grand Ole Opryland was a treat for us to watch on our 3 channel TV. She will forever hold a place in my heart and memories. RIP SWEET LADY
Loretta & Do was a real love story. That’s what true love is you fight, love, argue laugh, a marriage takes hard work & the most important thing is love & the will to make it work & to stay together
Unfortunately, Loving wasn't good enough. They had a violent relationship and abuse on both sides. They were young and stupid. She didn't even know what marriage was when she got married. She was 13 and he was in his 20's. It was a disaster that they got together so young. Had they waited and let her grow up some they both would have been truly happy. Like she said in the 1st video.. if he smacked her once she would smack him twice. I wonder of he ever abused their children? He was the one with them all the time. Most men that will abuse their wife, will also abuse the children.
I’m sure that this is not the only time in this world that you haven’t heard this but be assured you are such a sweet heart ♥️ sincerely loved by all who watched you as well as seen you sing in person...who else but you be could be the 1# choice as our Native American Indian ambassador for my Tribe to carry the donated monies to the Red Cross for the victims of 9/11. I am in no way boasting about it however, my mom who had greatly loved your music was there at our event when it occurred so it will always be to me and hopefully God himself seen that you’re a humble person with an exceptionally transparent heart. ❤️🌟💕💓. With much prayer, love and blessing 🎼♥️☝🏼✝️🇺🇸
Doolittle was a wild, happy, and extroverted man in the movie, but in real life he was actually very private and reserved. Not shy, he just didn’t care for all the glitz and glamour.
About mid morning my grandpa came home from work driving the same wagon and horses he and his dad had left in that morning before sunrise. They saw him coming up the drive and wondered why he was coming home in the morning and why my great grandpa was not with him. When he got to the oil company tent that they lived in they learned that he was not alone ; he had his daddy's body and head in the back of the wagon; his head had somehow got caught in a loop and severed by the very team of horses that they rented to the drilling company they worked for. In times past men got killed quite often in the blue collar industries while just doing their best to provide for their loved ones.
I spent every summer n Tennessee at her ranch from 1984 to 1996.Absolutely LOVED the hay rides Doo gave us ALL OVER THE RANCH and I don't think I can remember a time he did not have a child sitting on his knee! God bless Loretta and family!
God bless u and all of your family. Got 2 visit butcher holler. Loved it and got 2 meet your brother. He was a super nice man and treated me and my family wonderfully. Again bless u.
This gal is the finest lady and I hope 🤞 one day I’ll be able to meet her I worship her and her music she has a talent like no other oh and Happy 😃 birthday 🎂 Loretta Lynn
Love this awesome lady, I went to her home way back in 1991 seen her gift shop ate in her restaurant, everything was really nice to see. Glad I got to visit her place, cause I'm way out west as in Caifornia, I wish I could go back and visit again. 😍
Loretta me and my family has loved y'all seems like forever. My Daddy was a coal miner to in W.V my Mommy had 11 baby's. Me now 58 was the last one. Most of my brother's are in heaven now. With Daddy an Mommy. He moved to California way back when for my brother's wouldn't have to work the mines. Back in the day he was a coal miner an moonshiner. So he got a job with truck lines in California found Jesus stop drinkin. He was the best Daddy in the world. He only went to 2 movie house's in his whole life. 1 movie was Ten Commandments. 2 movie was yours. Coal miners daughter. Me and my Sissy went with him. Watched his face as your daddy talked about the mine. About knee pads an such. He never wore his much either said he'd scratch his back if he did. He got black lung from them there mines. But still lived to be in his 80's. I look back now and smile as I remember him watching that move of yours. You could see memories flooding back in time on his face. What I wouldn't give now to hold that old face once more. But he said Patty Jane always have Jesus in your heart and we will all meet again in heaven. So I don't know if you'll ever get around to reading this. But I just wanted to show it to ye. Much love to you and your family. Many prayers darlin. Jesus loves you and so do we. XO XO XO
She is one hell of an awesome woman true and real there is no other like her!!!!!!!! Beautiful voice from God thank you to moony for giving her that extra nuge she will always be my idol!!!!!!!!
You can see the love that they had. Seriously with all the heartache and all the things that happened they found away to get things to work. That type of love you can't find. I hope one day to find that.
Loretta is one of those that stood by her man through better or worse and until death do them part....I true example of what marriage is in a world where divorce runs rampant...
I agree that divorce is just to quick a option these days. Nobody works at it anymore. If it gets tough they just call it quits. Having said that, I will never, how ever, say that a woman should stay with a man that's raises his hand to her or scars her heart with harsh abuse. Yes the Bible teaches us to honor our vows. But he also instructs the man to love his wife like Christ loved the church. No one should ever be hurt so badly. Not by hands nor lips or infidelity. I know the road she walked.
April Gosa: I wasn't speaking specifically to any one couple. I was making a observation on how marriage seems to be viewed these days. You know, my opinion? Which I'm certainly allowed to do, will continue to do, without your permission.
Beloved worldwide, indeed, but OUR national treasure! My WV grade-school friendgurls (some of whom actually were coal miner's daughters) & I used to tape-record ourselves singing, "Heh, Loretta" while doing household chores. I still laugh when recalling how one evening, following a performance of hers on The Johnny Carson Show, she ran over to his desk in her stocking-feet, heels-in-hand. I think she may have slipped on the stairs, tousling her hair a bit. Jokingly, Mr. Carson asked if she was okay, then inquired as to the condition of her shoes. Not missing a beat, Loretta replied, "Well, my shoes are alright, but I don't know about my HAR!" I luv me some Loretta, always & forever!
I named my daughter after her .LORRIE LYNN ..FOUND A SIGNED PICTURE OF HER IN DUMPSTER 20 YEARS PAST . LIFE IS A MYSTERY. NEVER KNEW OUR BACKGROUNDS WERE SIMILAR .I WAS BORN 1947 IN WILD CAT HOLLER .WVA. 11 BROTHERS SISTERS .4 ROOMS AND A HIGHLY TALENTED sister who as lorretta gifted.. destiny never allowed her to sing only at the church ..tragedy can destroy a gift and without love it never goes forward..R.I.P.SISTER LORRETTA. SING ON THE MILKEY WSAY AS ELVIS ALWAYS SAID ..
There will never be another woman like her. She was a gift to many. Her family is very blessed and special as well. God bless you all and as you start start this New Year without may you all find peace & joy in the love, music & talent she shared with you all.
Thank you for the post :) I have admired Loretta since I first heard her first song...She was my idol and I've always adored her...I had no idea the things she had endured in her life...I went to a concert at a school and I was going to see Loretta and Conway, man I was so excited I couldn't hardy wait...Well Loretta had a break down and couldn't make, and I was so disappointed...But I got to see Conway and they called Sonny James to fill in for Loretta...Sonny flew up from Florida to do the show...He was really good and I love his songs too...I only wish I could've see my idol, that I adore so much...I love you Loretta and I Pray that your recovering from your health problems...God Bless you Loretta and I'll always love you
Dear Loretta, Let me start by saying that I have grown up listening to you sing since I can remember. I was born in Ky. @ our only way of hearing you was listening to The Grand Old Opry on our big brown radio that was taller than me at that time. (Our house was a lot like yours honey when I was growing up.) As we were dirt poor too. My mom has always loved you too and we both still love listening to you sing. I just gave her your newest cd for Christmas that she specifically asked for. She's 78 now, @ I'm 62 @ we just want you to know how much we love you, @ admire you. At age 6 I was up on stage singing "You ain't woman enough to take my man!" My dad played guitar and I dreamed of being like you. Unfortunately they divorced @ I was lost without him to play for me. But you were always close as we played your songs every chance we could. Loretta if I can ever find a way I want mom and I to meet you in person @ maybe see you sing in person. This is on both our bucket lists to do before we leave this earth. She doesn't know how to use a computer but asked me one time if I ever could to please write to you @ tell you how much we love you. I thought about that on this New Year's Eve while watching your biography/ where you talk about your life. I pray that somehow I will get to bring mom @ I to meet you Miss Loretta!! You @ Do came thru Burkedville Ky. @ bought you all a bologna sandwich @ a lil store called Brown's grocery. My dad told us he met you that day @ it just about killed us. Mom was working, @ I was in school. You are still as beautiful inside @ out as the first time I heard @ saw you sing Loretta. Thank you from my heart for your angelic voice @ the beautiful person you are. I really do hope this email reaches you someway. Maybe when your at home resting you will run across it. God bless you Retta, you will always be our Queen of country music, and we love you. Joan @ Judy
