Great video Jason Well Done, very informative i've been looking for a video like yours for years on how to do CMYK properly , everyone else seems to miss out a step or two but yours is so easier to understand !! Thanx heaps and hello from Australia
THAN YOU SO MUCH!!! I've been meaning to learn to do this for so long and over-complicated it in my head.. This was so helpful! Thanks again for sharing
Thank you so much! I've been liking for a video to help me and yours was so easy to follow. I'm going to try it and then let you know how it turns out!
Thank you for this video! For any other newbies like me who get lost if something doesn't work.... in the most recent versions of Photoshop creative cloud - version 22, since you no longer can use the line tool in pixel mode, it worked for me to use the pencil tool, just make sure to increase the pixels after changing it to pure black like he says in the video or you might not be able to see the line you have drawn. And when using the pencil tool and using the blue guidelines, you don't need to use the shift key to draw a straight line.
I can do the same thing in one minute. Just make sure that you work in CMYK-mode. Under Filter -> Pixelate -> Color halftone... Fill in the radius in pixels and the angles in CMYK-order. Voila! Now you can do the separation of the four channels as described in the clip.
@@watersinc.519 when you print in CMYK each layer of color is composed of thousands and thousands of tiny dots, and each layer has to align with the others in certain angles so the colors blend and create the illusion of different colors. There’s a term you can search called moiré pattern if you want to go further into it
If you want to print on a dark garment and you want a white layer, do you flip the black channel and put that layer underneath all and what would be the angle of the white channel? what is the dot size so it is not thick on garment?
I Love your helpful video. Thanks. When I do the registration marks in my layer window(box) shows layers there but not you, when I'm looking at your screen you don't have extra layers showing (I got 2 monitors) Do I'm doing something wrong?
This is so cool, cant wait to try it out. I had to google the screen angles thing having never dealt with CMYK seps before - is there a reason you chose this combo over say the 105, 90, 75, 15 degree set up?
because otherwise the colours would all overlap each other and you wouldn't see them eg yellow covered with cyan and magenta and black and you won't see the colour watch this for a simple explanation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qooBg20wYLU.html
Thanks man. Im using PS 2021 and I was able to follow without any problems. I will burn the screens tomorrow and see how the design comes out. The only question I have is about frequency. What are you looking at when determining what frequency is right? Are you looking for details on the artwork? opacity? Or you have to actually screen print the design and make changes base on the results you get?
detail on the artwork, lines and edges crisp, while accounting for the silk screen mesh count, the higher the mesh, the more frequency you can apply (detail)
Gendo3s2k yes there is a reason, if you don't choose it then the colors will begin to overlap on each other, you might also end up having some linear patterns on your shirts or whatever you are printing on.
about the settings on bitmap. angle settings that you put are the standard settings? ) black 45 freq 15 ,yellow angle 0 ,magenta angle 75, cyan angle 15... when you print this on tshrit which color should be the first to be print? thank you
your image needs to be background layer. Simply select the layer, then go to 'layer' menu on top, then 'new', then 'layer from background'. Now go to that layers channels and do split channel.
If you are printing on any other color other than white, you'll have to lay a white under base for the CMYK layers. You'll then need more than a 4 color press.
