A basic overview of this modification I undertook a couple of years ago to try and communicate it to anyone interested in the same!

For those of us with a G0704 Milling Machine we thank you. I'm sure many of us are learning like me how to use a mill and do setups before modifying our mill to CNC, and folks like you are really helping us all avoid pit falls and and be more successfull than we otherwise woiuld. A hearty thank you for doing these videos. :)

It is possible to connect a vfd directly to your ess and have reliable speed adjustment without any external bob and controllers. The k1,2 and 3 terminals are all potentiometers. The trick is making sure your three connections to your vfd are set to the correct variables that your three ess terminals are connected to. Unfortunately because there are so many variables and a vfd has much more dangerous levels of current no one wants to make posts about it. But trust me if you take your time and read through both manuals several time +watch and read lots it will all make sense. Happy making people

Thanks for the info. I’ve been avoiding running my motor from mach3 because it seemed confusing. You’re video has inspired me to tackle it.

Thanks for posting. Great video with very practical information. I was a little surprised you used GT2 belts rather than something heavier like an XL or 5m style. Was there a specific reason for GT2? Thanks

Opti seems to now use a different board they have trimmers for speed etc.

Dude I'm gonna go tear into my hazard frought machine and just convert it to a brushless motor, the motors in these little machines kinda suck
