Hi Boss! Thanks for help.verry kind og you!! I bought SF 45 9/10 It is very good for my 14,2 GT .But when I see you guys casting this longbelly lines......I go for WA 55 8/9 I will try it when the ice is melting here in Norway John
Hi sir! Do you mean shooting head or running line? If you ment running lines, i’ve notice that Vision control thickest is good. And also Gaelforce thickest. Loop makes quite good ones too. I have quite many different running lines, PVC coated ones + mono running lines. They all have their own good properties. But those mentioned ones i like most.
Hi Sir! I have two Nextcast SF45 fly lines...they are the best shooting heads on a market. WA55 should be very good choice for the rod. But which is right weight...that differs. I've notice that also one weight lighter Nextcast 55`and 70 flylines works very well. Once we tested 15`GT with #9-10 WA70`flyline and it was very good setup. I can do longer casts with #10-11 FF70`flyline, but that one was so easy to lift up with sink tip and cast. I had a 14,4 CND Steelhead and with that i had older WA55`#9-10...that one i didn't like. I sold that fly line. But again...I have WA55 #7/8. That works really well with CND GT Skagit #8/9 fly rod. And quite well with CND GT #7/8 14`Solstice. So...it is little bit difficult to say for sure, but i think #8/9 WA55 could be better for your rod???
Speycast Hi Boss!;-) Once more I has to say Im impressed over the smoothness And the elegant way you are casting. Powerful but also relaxed and the power is set in at the end of the cast. You seems to get very much power from the rod. I think you can fish for hours wihtout Getting tired. I am å beginner with longbelly. I have å 14.2 cnd bv gt.what longbelly line will you recomend?Should I invest. In a 15' ? All the best! John
Hi Sir John! Thank you very much for the kind words :) I'm still practicing and learning. This technic is quite new for me. My friend is also casting on a videos and he is more pro, more better then me...so he has teached me. Because of this technic, i really can cast hours and days without getting tired. We are trying to take power out from the rod in both directions...backcast and front cast .So we are not using muscles in any situations. Oh, you have a fantastic fly rod. I have tested and tried multiple amount different rods and that is superb rod :) With CND rods you can't go wrong with Nextcast flylines...they are fitted together during the design/development. But which nextcast speyline you should choose is little bit more difficult to say...70`might be little bit too long....they don't have rear taper, so you have to keep hole line out. So i recommend Nextcast WF or FF ( wf is multitip speyline...i use it with my 14`CND GT and 13,7`CND GT rods ). Other really good fly line for that rod is Carron Procarron speyline ( there is only one size / model of those lines ). It is fantastic fly line and works well with tens of different dh rods regardless of a weight / length of the rod. But...belly of that fly line can weight 47 grams to 53 grams or so...mine is 47 grams. So you have to weighted it first...or store do it to you...or you can try to ask that from the Carron speylines if they can do that to you and when they have right fly line, they sell that one to you. 15`is different animal...they have same kind of action, so it is quite easy to take both to the river and change the rod during the fishing. But if you are not fishing big fishies, in a big river, very hard windy conditions or so...you would be fine with your 14,2`rod. Of course you get more power, more distance and more capability with 15`CND GT rod then 14,2`GT Rod...i love both of them...i own also 15`CND GT :) but they are quite close to each other ( sorry my bad english :) I hope that helps :)
Hi, thanks. You are right, much power from the rod. There are more videous of the VK-style. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jl39hEXZddQ.html
HI Sir! Leader is quite important. We have tried it so many times over the year that too short leader effect to a loop and distance of casting. It also lightness your anchor ( which is one of the reasons why distance and casting is not so qood with short leaders...with good casting technic you can manipulate this little bit when using shorter leaders ). So longer leader makes anchors to hold better. Longer leader and your loop opens slowlier and you make longer casts...that`s basic principles. When I'm fishing, it is always fighting what is the correct length of the leader to me. If I'm using sinking lines...do i want to use heavier flies or smaller ones...if smaller, do i want them to sink faster ( then using shorter leader ) or do i want longer and nicer casts etc. So to me there is no one right answer about the length of the leader. If i want good nice loops and longer casts...with shooting heads i use proximately 3,5 meter long leaders ( always tapered ). With speylines i use normally around 4,5 - 5 meter long leaders. I hope this helps you bro :)
My question is, do those beautiful tight loops come from a crisp high stop? Forgive me as I have only cast single hand fly rods. I am trying to learn how to cast smooth needle point tight loops on my single hand fly rod. Thanks for the video! just jim
Hi Jim! There is some reasons which can effect the a size of a loop when you cast a line. If your back loop is big ( horisontally or vertically ), your front loop can be big horisontally or vertically ( and there is some reasons which effects for that ). Then when you make your backcast and you stop the rod. From that high ( where your rod tip is ) your rod tip should move straight plane to a stop of a forward cast. My written English is not the best bossible, so it is little bit difficult to me to explain things in English 🙂
@@JackaHeineken Thank you for your reply! Your slow motion videos are excellent for understanding. You see so much more that way as in real time, the suttle movements are to quick. just jim
