cnet.co/1xwAq4q Could the new 2015 Porsche Macan become the car maker's new best seller, over its current best seller, the Cayenne SUV? Brian Cooley takes it for a drive and checks the tech.
The price difference might look like $22,000. Actually if you fit the Macan S with all of the options that come with the Turbo such as the alcantara headliner, PASM, Body color side blade, aluminum interior package, 14 way heated front partial leather seats with leather package, infotainment package, Bose audio package, heated steering wheel, painted rear facia, and active lighting package; the price difference is really $9,000. For that you get 20 horsepower, 70 lb-ft of torque, and more aggressive styling with no downsides, plus some other options are reduced price, I think that's worth it when you are already paying that much for it
I have had a lot of 'sports sedans' and SUVs. Bought this for my wife and I will tell you first hand that its the best vehicle that we've ever had. Dont buy it if you think you're buying a sports car; it's not. But if you're looking for a powerful fun to drive vehicle that gives you the seating postion and convenience of an SUV this is a very nice vehicle! The build quality and personality is exceptional.
3:00 oh hey! I love thousands hard buttons. Now every xxfxxxx fuction is in the touch screen woth 9ther brands and I cant even easily or quicky control hvac. keep doing what you doing Porsche. You are right.
Probably the best SUV on the market if not the best mid range executive car on the market but it could definitely handle more power. Unfortunately Porsche are not renowned for stepping on their own toes!
+SS8000cars It is actually enough since the Macan is aimed at a different category than the Cayenne, so 4.6 time to 60 from a standstill is more than enough, unless of course someone else steps in a offer something similar or faster.
+Baha T BTW in reality Porsches always clock faster times than the company advertises, so I reckon the Macan Turbo can do 0-60 in 4.2-4.1 seconds, which is really fast!
I think in reviewing the electronics in detail they are making a good point: carmakers for too long have ignored customer demands for in-car innovation, not just faster engines. It is a good wakeup call for them that Google and Apple enter the stage now.
I can remember looking up the difference between Bi and twin turbo engines, I found one, but it was really confusing and I forgot what it had said. Brian Cooley Can you tell me what the difference between twin turbo and bi turbo charging is? Thanks! Love your reviews too!
So imagine a traditional v8 engine. You have four cylinders on each side. The exhaust connects in two tubes into 1. A twin turbo has both on that single connected tube. A Biturbo has 1 turbo on each side before they connect.
Ha! I completely forgot about this post! Well, I traded my Cayman S for a used Macan Turbo this past week. It was under $57k. It’s actually pretty awesome. But nothing drives like a Cayman S.
Adam Yates Porsches are more than badges. If Bentley put their badges on a Civic and charge anything more than a Civic for it, do you think they would even sell one?
For the rest of the world who uses the metric system, could you be kind enough to add both conversions to videos so that I don't have to stop the video every other second to ask Siri whatsup
I don't know if this is going to be a "smash hit." $85K for a sporty soccer mom crossover with limited back seat room and not much room for your haul at Whole Foods? It appears that Audi wrinkled out the kinks for a whole lot less.
And be at the dealer for repairs after 30,000 miles. Not a diss to you, but have you ever owned a range? They age 5 years for every 1 a porsche ages. The macan is #2 in this category for reliability. 2nd only to the Acura. This is a 200,000 mile car when taken care of as most modern Porsche’s are. That range will slowly start to fall apart.. a stitch here, a button or switch there. Then it’s eventually the transmission or the ridiculously poor quality auto leveling suspension that costs 5 grand to repair. Not worth it imho.
