CNM-AU8 is an experimental pharmaceutical developed by Clene Nanotherapeutics. It is composed of clean-surfaced gold nanocrystals in pharmaceutical grade water believed to facilitate metabolic activity in the cell. This video explains CNM-AU8, early pre-clinical research, and the results of the VISIONARY-MS phase II trial.

I shared this trial in a blog when the trial was recruiting. Thank you for sharing the results, really interesting. (It was fun to write, because remyelination is the Holy Grail of MS research; and the fabled Holy Grail is made out of Gold. I made an Indian Jones reference. ) Will be very interesting to see how it fares in the Progressive MS trial. 😊

Thanks for explaining this Dr. Beaber. I read about it recently in a newsletter and was hoping it could help repair some damage to the optic nerves. I'm hoping clemastine shows promise as well. I have significant vision loss in one eye, but partial optic atrophy in both due to prior optic neuritis. Uhthoff's makes my vision terrible on a regular basis, so my summer activities are unfortunately very limited. Any treatment that improves vision (even marginally) would be a big win.

Question for Dr Brandon Beaber, have you heard of topical insulin eye drops? Insulin eye drop is an old treatment for repairing injury to the cornea and is sometime used ‘off licence’ for the treatment of eye ulcers. Recent research into treatments for glaucoma has shown that six weeks of Insulin eye drops can repair/restored damage to the optic eye caused by glaucoma. Insulin eye drops could be a potential treatment for damaged to the optic nerve caused by optic neuritis in MS. Insulin eye drops may also help to repair MS lesions at the front of the brain because Insulin is able to pass through the blood brain barrier. Love to see a future video on this topic to get your thoughts on this potential treatment.
@DrBrandonBeaber
@DrBrandonBeaber Год назад
I would be skeptical of insulin as a treatment of MS but if know of any published data on this, I would take a look.
@jonathanplatts5825
@jonathanplatts5825 Год назад
@@DrBrandonBeaber The research into topical insulin eye drops is focused on damaged to the Optic Nerve caused by Glaucoma. The research has just moved into human trials following a successful mouse model of optic nerve transection, the research team showed that insulin administration after optic nerve injury promoted robust dendritic regrowth restoring vision after just 6 six weeks of administration. The teams research validates insulin as a powerful medication to restore dendritic function in glaucoma. I personally have suffered damaged to the Optic Nerve from Optic Neuritis caused by MS, therefore I am really interested to understand if insulin eye drops could potentially be a treatment for damage to the Optic Nerve and brain lesions behind the eye. The research I am referring to can be found here: classic.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT05206877 classic.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04118920 www.medifind.com/articles/clinical-trial/217275467 There is a RU-vid video were one of the lead researchers discuses the findings of the animal trials stating that vision loss was restored after just six weeks of treatment.

I would love to be able to time travel 50-100 years in the future and see where MS research and drug therapies are. I think the most likely progress will be made in STOPPING EBV infection in the first place with a real vaccine (not the mRNA CRAP), and we prevent people from developing MS.

Just reviewing their results thus far have been disappointing and investors have taken note. The ALS results have been weak at best and the MS ongoing studies show very modest improvements in vision and not much with TFW25 tests or the composite as you nicely outlined here. If I were a betting man, I'd say this will go down in history like Biotin.

I think the amount of gold isn't that much. The 60mg dose would be 0.00212 ounces which is worth about $4 right now. Probably the cost of research, development, profit, and marketing would contribute much more to the cost.

A number of MS drug companies pivoted their studies during the covid pandemic to develop anti-covid drugs. They were chasing the bigger fish…but this meant a lot of existing investors abandoned them as they stopped developing what they promised.

@@DrBrandonBeaber I’ve been watching the scale up/commercialisation of Redhill’s RHB-104 which is used to treat MS and Crohns. It’s basically combining a collection of off-patent antibiotics into a single medicine. It’s been frustrating seeing the MS study put on the back-burner whilst the organisation chases a covid therapy. For those in the know, the treatment is available right now by purchasing the individual antibiotics…but there’s not many specialists who know how to prescribe/manage this. This approach is explained well in the old Catalyst program “MS Cure?”…though there’s been developments in the approach since that program was aired.
