I noticed immediately that her hair was arranged to make a point of displaying her left ear ("Look at my ear, I have nothing to hide!") while covering her right one (the side already obscured by her insistence on being on that particular side of the stage, which was bizarrely rationalized by an announcement before the presentation began) with hair superglued in place. The existence of an earpiece that looks ninety percent like the earring she went out of her way to show us was the second-to-last piece of the puzzle; the actual last piece is the fact that clip-on earrings are famous for being extremely uncomfortable, and there is no way a person with pierced ears (like Kamala) would choose to wear them in a two-hour, high-stress situation in which she needs to be at her very best ... unless she had a good reason to endure it.

That was the first and last time that I have watched ABC in over a decade.

The ear obscured by being on the side of the stage the announcers gave a rationalization for her insistence upon ... which also happens to be the ear that her hair was immovably arranged to cover, in contrast to her left ear, which was self-consciously framed and displayed by her hairstyle.

They probably asked the candidates to verbally confirm before the debate started that they weren't wired with earpieces through which coaches were feeding them their lines.
