I served 30 years in the military. Deployed 7 times the last 5 years. We always knew months in advance when we would be leaving. I just finished his book. Its so interesting; n insight about the life and culture of the areas where he grew up. These families were strugglers who developed power and grit from the hard times they overcame. Some never did financially succeed but id rather have a sister and aunt and grandparents like he did than some of the snobby non-present parents /family who have money and no heart. The book will show you who he is. Hes awesome! He appreciates truth, integrity and hard work. He was tenacious and hes a well-rounded person forever grateful to live in our country where he and others like him have at least a chance to better themselves. IMO, he had the good sense to know his own weaknesses and worked to overcome them. And hats exactly what he did.....thankyou to Mamaw up in heaven who was there for him through it all.

I think of people with kids who will be shopping for school supplies, maybe a new pair of shoes for school, etc. Let alone the cost of groceries for growing children. I'm a combat vet. What he did is called "stolen valor". He found out they were deploying and exited stage left. Civilians wont understand how this is looked at by soldiers. Its cowardess! He knew about the deployment many months prior! Saying what he said when you have lost close friends in battle will make your blood boil. Think a moment and picture yourself losing your best friends in combat...then a guy lies and says he's been in combat to make himself look good or whatever. Now think about the friends you lost. I agree, I was disappointed that it wasn’t Tulsi but the more I learn and hear about Vance I believe he was the right and best choice…also makes it possible for people like Tulsi to be in the cabinet as our defense secretary and that I think is a better place for Tulsi to serve and make the necessary changes needed to fix our military and foreign policy but also take care of our veterans. Trump could easily gain more support if he were to name his cabinet now so people can see that he is not only going to reform our government but show how by having the people but also those that are in the middle that their concerns and people they trust will be in those positions.
