And this deceased brainwashed american, unfortunately died for a foreign land that had nothing to do with him or his homeland.
That's a very stupid comment, typically by someone who's brainwashed by russian media. Doesn't matter if you're sincerely of that opinion, albeit with that username you are likely a bot account. This type of thinking is employed by russian media - why bother helping others when you have internal issues? A very common comment by Tucker by the way. I´ve met good ukrainian people too, but the general experience and how they have treated us was abysmal. Not to mention the corruption on the borders, where we had to bribe most of the ppl. At first when we refused to pay anyone they punished us by making us wait for long hours. After a while we knew how things are working there.
What a brave soul. Gave his all for another country fighting for their freedom. I hope his mother finds peace. Her tears brought me to tears, I’m not gonna lie.
Is he really "a brave soul" who "gave his all for another country fighting for their freedom?" That' clearly possible. It's also entirely possible, however, that he is just a hapless thrill seeker embarking on a foreign adventure for action & excitement, or a callous mercenary hitman going to a slaughter field to kill for the money ("volunteers" like him are paid $2000-3400 per month); or even worse, a ruthless psychopath relishing in shedding blood and exterminating human lives, which give his own life meaning. These are all possibilities. Nobody knows what truly motivates him and nobody needs to know, as the answer to that question is a moot point now given that he is dead. Whatever thought was once inside his brain is irrelevant at this point and whatever is inside the others' brains related to him is being washed away by time. What we do know is that the war will run through its due course with or without him. His sign-up, arrival, presence, action and demise make not a whit of difference in terms of actual impact. Unlike the others who are embroiled within the war by circumstances out of their control, may they be Russians or Ukrainians, he, an American living in the US, made the conscious choice of throwing himself into a distant war like a moth to a fire. As much as he is just another anonymous & faceless statistic as the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians and Russians are, he doesn't even have the narrative coherence to make unambiguous sense of his death - it's like a Cambodian guy traveling all the way to the Middle East to get killed in the Arab-Israel War. It's not even a serious tragedy - just a sad and confused farce. You expressed condolences to his family. That's very nice. However, it only takes you a few seconds to complete such a gesture. What's going to happen afterwards? The answer is that he will soon be forgotten by the world. Aside from his parents and close friends, who will remember a random American mercenary getting killed in a foreign war that that killed tens of thousands? If you don't believe it, just wait until it's October 2023 and ask around who had heard of "Joshua Jones".
