I've been co living for 4 years and I love it. It helps so much with loneliness and I love having the option of small conversations over coffee in the morning and seeing the same people every day
I like the concept. (I loved living in a shared apartment too.) But there aren't many options in my city and the ones exist are overpriced. In the end I decided to rent a quite spacious single room apartment (42m2) with a balcony from a housing co-op that costs two thirds the rent of the co-living options.
I've lived in shared flats as a student and have seen private rooms as small as 9m2 (a prison cell). Having to move after a year definitely sucks - wtf? I've also lived in a business appartment for 3 months which would probably have been too small by many standard as I took my wife and baby kid with me (42m2). It didn't have a lot of shared amenities though. I'd say give people choices and the freedom to decide: Noone should be forced to live in a overpriced place with limited private area, but anyone willing to co-use amenities should be able to do so and pay less.
