COA is literally a fanfiction written by Orpheus😭 if you pay attention in AOM one of the books Alice can bring to the manor is Call of The Abyss. Btw COA 1-7 are connected although sometimes not directly

Identity V as a game may be a threat to my wallet but one thing we cannot criticize Netease about is their COA lore videos and promotion materials in general (high quality animation is super expensive). So happy you finally did this, also character lore videos next? I swear your appreciation and sympathy for certain characters will multiply by ten, the hunters all have such tragic backstories (especially compared to survivors-)

k so idk if someone already did this but i can explain the coa 1 lore bc im a lore nut. All of the pirate skins from coa 1 are a crew. Pirate captain, (Leo’s a tier) falls in love with Caged Butterfly, a perfumer a tier (you can still unlock it with a card or past essences). Leo wanted to get a sea snail shell (???) to woo her, said shell is actually an existing b tier accessory. (but that’s not really important ngl) Leo’s obsession with getting Butterfly a gift ends up deterring the pirate crew from their goals, so they decide to do the very reasonable act of throwing Butterfly overboard. That’s why Madame Coral and Caged Butterfly look similar to each other, as she drowned and merged with the coral. Pirate Captain goes mad looking for her, and turns into Golden Sea Monster in the process. That’s it. I think. I got this info from a lore video like a year ago, so take it with a grain of salt. Id recommend looking deeper into coa 1 on your own, the lore is really interesting and this is just a brief summary. why did you read all of this

in case no one has mentioned, the offline skins are codes given to those who attend the tournaments in person. also to explain a bit more about coa6 bc that one is a bit confusing, they're filming a sci-fi movie/tv show with andrew and melly as the leads. from what i understood, wu is an alien(?) who likes cheesy sci-fi movies so he went to make his own but it seems like it wasn't as fulfilling as he has hoped so he decides to kidnap the entire cast of his show and bring them to witness the whisperer in darkness(the big eyeball thing) to share his devotion to it with them( bc its perfectly logical to show a cosmic horror to your coworkers). somehow melly finds a way to escape(she's like a final girl) and brings a specimen back with her but when she gets back the city she sees is already being destroyed. now here's my theory about what leads into coa7: i think the specimen melly had with her was the feaster. i think when she crashed the specimen escaped and then began to multiply and grow and eventually do far worse damage than what wu had caused. so melly accidentally caused a fungal apocalypse. we support woman's wrongs edit: this is all just a short summary from memory btw and its entirely possible that i might've missed or forgotten something. since coa6 is one of my favorite coas and i remember that one the best, i thought i might share some more context for it! ^^

When COA 4 video dropped, it was almost like something shifted in the fandom

The COA 3 music video will forever have a place in my heart. It was the first COA I ever got to participate in and it’s so nostalgic and gorgeous. I love the lyrics, the instruments and the visuals so much I love COA 3 so much in general it makes me wanna scream of excitement EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

My favorite coa essences was probably geisha, wu chang, and feaster's even tho I didn't participate in the geisha one. I do want her s skin tho

idk if anyone mentioned this but the tentacles all throughout the coas are specifically related to the abyss, it just so happens feaster also has tentacles :) the abyss is what makes the tentacles seen throughout

COA4 is my first and most favorite coa! For me, it gives off the unique and cool theme that has horror underneath. I remember from somewhere that at the end of the story, Norton won the race and escaped the loop in the same shape as he started the race. But other racers (mike, demi, fiona) come back old or weak. Because time had passed outside the loop and they couldn’t win the race against ✌️the call of abyss✌️ (who is bane for this coa) so the abyss consumed their life force or something

It feels so weird to wake up at 7 am and see zeez streaming😭

COA 4 IS SO INTENSE AND DRAMATIC THAT IT IS SO FUN TO ME

I have so much to say about this vid but ugh I’ll just stay on one topic but I remember the nostalgic feeling of seeing coa 4 trailer and ughhhh I miss Idv back then so much. I genuinely wish it was an experience I could share with you. It’s just so nostalgic and reminds me of how Idv was. I was there for coa 5 because I took a really long break from Idv which really made me sad…I really wish I could’ve there. In conclusion…Idv was at its peak in 20-22 🗣🗣

i wish they dropped more lore on coa 6 bc im very biased towards it, but im pretty sure the plot is bi'an (white guard) is trying to mind control the survs so he can somehow reconnect/reunite with wujiu (black guard) im still super unsure but there is definitely some mind corruption and trickery

Also looking back, you reminded me of how scary the game used to try to be vs now where they don't even care for the fear factor anymore 😂

I'm disappointed because I joined this game a few years ago it was SO different and the starting story was the detective guy looking through the house instead of journalist, but I stopped playing after the tutorial because me and my sibling didn't think the game had potential 😅 I though the only playable character was the tutorial guy and team games back then intimidated me because I wasn't that good of a gamer back then 😂
